Hey All

Just wondering if there is a site or something where I can find the basic power (in KW-atw) of some cars...

The main things I'm tryin to figure out are:

How many KW-atw are the following cars... (from factory)

R34-GT-t

S14 (angry eye, not sure what series they are)

R33 S2

and S15 spec R and spec S

As you can tell, my knowledge at this stage is quite limited, so please feel free to correct any mistakes I may have made in trying to outline what I'm after in this post.

Any help would be appreciated guys, Just trying to do my research before I go out and buy my first 'turbo' car.

Thanks

Sam :)

Oh ok, so the 34 would be the quickest of all? Why would the S15 be the go if the 33 and 34 would smoke them? Are they alot lighter or something?

This may sound like an odd request too, but does anyone know the rwkw of a 3.8L commodore ecotech engine, and a 5.7 Gen III ? Just so I have some sort of comparison between the speeds... Reason being my mate has a VU-SS ute and I want to be able to smoke him when I get a new car. For the record, I'm presently driving a 99 2L NA Subaru Liberty wagon, and its slow as hell.

Thanks again guys.

i know what your trying to get, you want a car that in stock form is a weapon... the best 'bang for your buck' sort of thing. But a cars power is easily changed with a bit of boost here, and an intercooler there.

At the same time dont discount other factors like how well it puts the power down. Also the quality of the car itself, both interior and engine wise aswell. I said go the S15 because it really is a good looking car in dead stock form, and the amount of mods on the market for it are mind boggling. Its a light car, 6 speed box and huge engine potential.

but remember you are on a skyline forum so i think most of the advice your going to get will be biased towards certain cars

if u were going to buy any of those i would suggest the r34 i own one and have also driven an s15 spec r and happy to say that it doesnt come close to the r34 but it all depends what u r after but power wise and handling the 34 is the one for u.

On a scale of 1-10, can anyone guess how bored I was this afternoon? Here are the factory specs with flywheel engine specs. If you find an error, I don't care, I've lost interest.

R34 GTT:

Max.power: 205.94 kw @ 6400 rpm

Max.torque: 343.23 Nm @ 3200 rpm

Weight: 1410kg

S14a:

Max.power: 147kW @ 6400rpm

Max.torque: 265Nm @ 4800rpm

Weight: 1210kg

A few different S15's available:

S15 (Australian):

Max.power: 147 kw @ 6400 rpm

Max.torque: 265 Nm @ 4800 rpm

Weight: 1265 kg

S15 (Japanese):

Max.power: 184 kw @ 6400 rpm

Max.torque: 275 Nm @ 4800 rpm

Weight: 1240kg

S15 (Autech):

Max.Power: 147 kw @ 7200 rpm

Max.torque: 200 Nm @ 6000 rpm

Weight: ??? - less than the normal turbo version, though

Note: Special model powered by a (P-plate legal) non-turbo SR20VE engine.

Commodore power outputs vary depending on model, but a quick overview:

Commodore (Ecotech 3.8):

Max.power: From 147kw @ 5200 rpm to 180kw (in HSV XU6)

Max.torque: From 304 Nm @ 3600 rpm to 380 Nm @ 3200 rpm (in HSV XU6)

Weight: From 1385kg (bottom-spec, no air-con) for VS, From 1550kg for VT onwards

Commodore (Alloytech 3.6):

Max.power: From 175kW @ 6000rpm to 190kW @ 6500rpm

Max.torque: From 320Nm @ 2800rpm to 335Nm @ 3200rpm

Weight: From 1568kg

Commodore (Gen III 5.7):

Max.power: From 220kw @ 5000rpm to 300kW @ 6000rpm

Max.torque: From 446Nm @ 4400rpm to 510Nm @ 4800rpm

A 225kW Gen III are usually good for ~190rwkW. Easy to get them to 250+rwkW with intake exhaust and tune, a low 12 second car on street tyres in the hands of a good driver. Saying that they are heavy so driving them fast and also in gear acceleration isn't all that flash. My experience from previously owning a 257rwkW Monaro.

just go buy a supercharged bullet (mx5 copy)

350hp n 1100kgs or so.. cant go wrong

How quick are they? A few years ago Motor had an article on it and they presumed it do around 5 sec 0-100 km/h. IMO thats way too slow as it has around 300 KW and weighs just a tad over a tonne.

I think traction may have been a problem.

spose it depends on how much you got to spend too! r33's are great for modding and a hell of alot cheaper then an s15

if you spent the money on the r33 that you would have saved from getting an s15 you would be able to rip 99% of cars on the road however r33's are older? meh hard choice i guess.

have you looked into rx7's supras and so on?

if you dont have much money try going for an old school silvia they are really cheap and arnt bad with performance.

Thanks so much for your replys guys.

My wagon is really practical for me so I was also thinking a GT forester, I don't spose anyone knows the rough amount of power they put out? However I'm quite sick of AWD, and would like something RWD again.. And don't say stagea, I think they're ugly, lol.

Oh and my budget is around 25g give or take.

Kenedy, I assume on that link you sent me, the figures are from the flywheel?

Thanks again.
