How many old rusted out cars do you think they took off the road to make it safer for the rest us.

None ...of course.

Just another reminder that modified cars are the scapegoat for our road's problems. Own a modded car - expect to be hassled. If you stay away from trouble, you should stay out of trouble. I haven't been to Aspley Macca's or Harry's (do these still exist??) for a few years and hence havent had any cop trouble for a few years. Although, i dont know if you could have avoided it if you were just coming home from a day on the beach last night.

actually id hope i was there last night, i got nothing illegal on my car, and i do wanna see their faces when they could not give me a fine.....

and i agree, the amount of dangerous cars on the road nowadays is terrible, and most of them are actually those commodores with no brake lights.....

IM KAOS was just minding his own business but was not impounded by police as the story stated.. voluntarily put his car on the tow truck after receiving 7 defects and a big yellow sticker across his window!!

can u actually take legal action against chanel 9 for giving out the number plate and giving wrong info??

frank,

doesn't matter if you have nothing illegal on your car... they will still find something to fine you for...

when i was sent to the pits at pineapple street a while back, there was a girl there in a brand new SS Commodore Ute... she had literally driven it off the showroom floor that morning, yet they still sent her to the pits... she had a fine/defect, but i can't remember what it was for...

Got pulled up on the m1 a couple of weeks back when we looking for the fun club with some mates, cop made me pop the bonnet and boot, fully searched the car and found nothing, couldnt give me a fine either cos my car is pretty much stock

well, if he has a yellow sticker across his window... i assume that its a defective vehicle one which means the car cant be driven, so he didnt really voluntariary put it on a tow truck...

    • Thanks for advice chaps   so you would change idler and tensioner bolt as well ? I guess because you thinking they have stretched once ?   i have done some research and on nissan belt and seem to hold 700hp but thinking HKS to be on safe side   i think I put nissan there last time   also thinking of changing cam cover to glass style:)
    • Nissan/Pitwork is fine stuff. HKS is just marketing wank. I personally wouldn't do the idler if it is already new. If it looks and feels fine, it is fine. But as D says - it's cheap to add it to the job. The water pump ditto. Even more so. If it show no signs of problems, then it is nearly new - leave it.
    • 1. I can't see a location on your profile but you do mention GBP so I'll assume you are in UK. In Australia, CBC make a timing belt kit with the gears and idler and tension bearing and that is what I use without any problems. I'm sure OEM or HKS are also fine but I wouldn't pay extra for HKS over anything else. 2. Yes, I would always change the idler and tensioner and the stud and bolt that hold them in. Assuming they were all done last time it is highly unlikely you would have a problem, but they are very cheap to add to the job considering the time it will take anyway.  3. No, you don't need to lock them as such (I think that is more for engines without timing marks), but you should make sure they move as little as possible once the belt is off as you can hit pistons on valves if they move too far. As always, make sure you line it all up to top dead centre with the timing marks aligned before you take the old belt off.
