I have the Apexi racing filter on the car for nearly 5 years now. No problems whatsoever.

You do have to clean them. To clean them, you have to take it off and give it a blast of compressed air from the inside of the funnel. You will see all the dirty bits "fly" off the filter.

Do not use water or the K&N filter cleaning kit and also do not oil them after cleaning. These will danmage the Apexi filter element.

A blast of compressed air from inside the air filter is all you need.

Aside from the noise, do these offer any tangible performance benefit over a decent panel filter in the airbox on stock to mildly modified cars?

...more specifically GTST's and other knowledgable members' posts. I guess you can just skip the rice vs. performance bitching and search for "GTST". :O
