Strange Noise

well when i start the car mainly only when cold i get this noise like grinding when i first start and after about 3 seconds it goes away and all seems fine, and when it does this it can be hard to start, it sounds like it is coming from drivers side of the engine, but it is driving me insane could anyone please help!!!!

starter motor maybe on its way out or shitting itself?

Or you have teeth chipped off the flywheel perhaps and the first three seconds is where its grinding on them and then starting the car when it actually connects with some good teeth.

i have a noise on start up. wouldn't call it a grinding noise, but i think mine is due to the fact that the oil is cold and hasn't pumped around the motor. it is worse on cold mornings.

i also get a noise from the throwout bearing when i first push the clutch in on cold mornings too.
