jutstar
My GTST25's power steering is making some aweful noise, i'm sure its the power steering pump cause the belts and the fluid is fine. Any advice on where I can get the pump fixed/replaced ? I'm on the northside. Has anyone else had this problem ? Revhead
Is it a screech or some other noise? Does it only happen if you hold it turned full lock or if you turn while stopped, or at other times too? jutstar
theres always a bit of noise, when moving the steering wheel it is loud, when at full lock it is louder. This happens when the car is moving or not. I'm pretty sure its the power steering pump, can ya fix em or do i have to get another one ? MajorSick
In the Information and technology industry the first thing a tek will as is for you to explain what it is and is not doing in more detail. I see no resin why this shouldn’t be the case here. Please what kind of noise is it making? Squealing, squeaking, grinding or another sound I have not covered here or maybe a few of the sounds all together? jutstar
I'm taking it to a power steering specialist, they said they'll try and repair the pump, if they can't, they'll replace it. yay Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/132187-r33-power-steering-noise-advice/#findComment-2455237 Share on other sites

Oz
Yeah it was just low fluid level. Very embarassing post !!! Good to see it was just fluid, unusual that the HICAS light never came on??? Was going to say if it was the pump try make a distinguishing mark on the pump so u can tell if it is a new pump or just your one recoed, seen it done before charging for a new pump & the old pump has just had a seal kit put through it. Give u a idea your looking at around $50 for a seal kit & about 1/2 hr to a hour to pull the pump down & rebuild it, so say $150 - $200 all done, with new pump say around $450 - $500... Some thing to keep in mind... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/132187-r33-power-steering-noise-advice/#findComment-2772903 Share on other sites
Munkyb0y
how about this? the hose coming from the bottom of the power steering fluid reservoir is always wet. i noticed this on alot of r33's. funny thing is the fluid level has never dropped. what's that about? mad082
thats also a common thing with VN commodores. they often sound like they have some sort of blower on them, but its just low power steering fluid. Topkart R33
how about this?the hose coming from the bottom of the power steering fluid reservoir is always wet. i noticed this on alot of r33's. funny thing is the fluid level has never dropped. what's that about? Had the same thing with my old 33, fluid would leak out the bottom hose and fill up the surrounding rubber sleeve. Ended up just getting new clamps and she was all sweet.
