Hi Japan residents!

I'm heading over to Japan in November. I've been a few times to Japan and done some street drift, Daikoku PA, wangan, workshop visits and did TAS this year, and last year. The one thing I have never been able to do due to going in January is going to some Japanese motorsport. I have checked some dates and found that there is a Super GT round on the 5th November at Fuji Speedway. There is a D1 SL round on 12th November. And I remember last year (or was it the year before?) the Nismo Festival was on in november sometime at TI Aida.

Does anyone know if the Nismo festival is on this year? and if so when and where?

Also would really love to go to a time attack event. Does anyone know of any that are on in November?

I am also always keen to check out some togue or street drift. And I am very keen to meet up with some of the Japan crew for some beeru and yakitori.

I am going to be staying for about 2 weeks. The first week will be in Tokyo and Chiba to visit some friends, do stuff in Tokyo, but after that the second week is undecided. I was thinking about heading down to Kyushu, or maybe Osaka?

Any other reccomendations would be much appreciated. And if any of you guys near where I'll be need something from Aus I could bring it for you for 1 beer ebisu per item. (to japan bags = empty, return home is a different story).

Thanks

Last years Nismo fest was on the first weekend of December (a snowy event that was!). Its back @ FUJI Speedway. Im not sure what date this year.

If your going to Kyushu, make sure you get a car and drive to Autopolis. its a beautiful track and they have a variety of events. http://www.autopolis.jp/

thanks Mr 34R.

It seems I will be missing out on Nismo Festival unless they kindly move it to early November!

I'm now looking at arriving in Tokyo on the 3rd and going Super GT on the 5th. I think that would be awesome. Shame I'm about 3 years too late for the GT500 GTRs though  But none the less it will be great to see.

if you end up in osaka i can take you up to minoo or nanko to watch drift or touge racing

Man, I wanna see drift racing so bad. Theres a bit f random stuff in my town, but its not a rev-head town.

Beer Baron, Super GT is awsome! I took a 13hour bus ride to Fuji Speedway last year, met James Courtney and hung with him in the Toms pits for a couple of hours - he offered me a ride back to Tokyo (a long story in itself). And this year I went to my most local track (1hr45mins away) Okayama Circuit.

Dont despair about missing the Skylines, the Z33s sound awsome with the flat engine note and turbos whistling! Tha loudest have to be the Toyota/Lexus Soarers. oh and the NSXs sound ace. Its all like heaven.

I wish that Super GT could make it to Aus one day...

thanks Mr 34R.

You arrive the day after me Richard! I'll see you in Osaka :O:) :)

well, it looks like you guys have helped make up my mind for me. 1 week Tokyo, then 1 week Osaka.

I look forward to catching up with some of you guys. and Rezz I definately owe you a nice dinner. Maybe some Yakiniku? mmmm totemo oishii desu ne!

ahh, well you have always been very helpful to me, and I haven't forgotten the favour you did for nick and I way back in jan 2004 (wow! nearly 3 years ago). That was very nice. :)

according to: http://www.so-net.ne.jp/s-taikyu/official/2006/rls04.html

there is a Super Taikyu round on 11/11 at twin ring motegi? Where exactly is motegi circuit? Has anyone been to a Super Taikyu round before? Looks interesting.

I would really love to go to a Time Attack round, or super lap etc too if anyone knows dates and locations for those.

North-east of Tokyo 2 hours by train. Also visit Honda Collection Hall.

As I remember there is limited of trains going to Motegi. We went by car.

    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
