Whats wrong with GWH ? Its a good road, mostly 2 lanes, plenty of up n down and its only 1 road all the way to bathurst (easy to keep together, not get lost and minimal chance of causing accidents).

And if you ask nicely the locals might even take you for a fang along some of there little know cliff on one side wall on the other side tight hairpin roads to break up the GWH... but only if your real nice!

That's along echo point road and the like, right?

I suppose it depends on if you want to take the scenic routes.. There's no real choice through the mountains - you really need to stay close to the GWH... But once you're past the victoria pass descent, you can turn right a little further along the road for a back way into lithgow. Or you could turn left a little before riverlett hill (incidently the best part of the GWH, closely followed by the pass) along that road, down into jenolan, back up out the other side, through oberon down the hill, then through oconnell (stop at the pub to annoy my bro - the chef), and then back onto the GWH just before kelso. Heh, it's likely to add another hour and a half on the journey though, but the roads are pretty exciting (i.e. hairy)...
