how much for a set of these ferodo's and where in melbourne can i get them?

I have a midly modified r32 and drive it hard occassionally. Will upgrading to these pads all round with good brake fluid be sufficient for daily driving and the occassional track day?

Race Brakes Melbourne will have them. Apparently Competition Friction is the official importer of Ferodo pads as well, so I used to source from them.

And yes, for the occasional track day you should be fine with pads and fluid (although I don't know the R32 that well).

My car used to be seriously underbraked, but with DS2500s / RBF600 fluid / slotted front rotors I found it very difficult to fade them out on the track during a standard 15 minute session on street tyres. Chances are your street tyres will overheat and go greasy on you before the rest of the braking hardware exceeds its limits.

It wasn't until I went to semi slicks and I could stand on the brakes doing a Takumi-style "supa late boraking tekneek" without locking up that this "stage 1" upgrade became a limitation. And even then it wasn't until the tail end of the session that I ran out of brakes.

Unless you're some kind of psycho daredevil, if fading them out on the track is difficult it makes fading them out on the street near impossible.

I'll be chucking into my liner tomorrow a set of QFM pads.

I trialled them before in my Commodore.

Great around on the road, good bite when cold, got a heap of temperature into them, never faded.

The ones that I ran were good for upto 450Degrees before loosing there major grip, and when they did loose it, it wasn't a major loss (until you REALLY heated them up)

I'll be throwing these set into my line tomorrow (Obviously new ones bought for the line) and be buying another step up above that (Rated alot higher temp wise) for track only sessions.

Yes we do braided lines street legal and custom race stuff and everything in between.

Re braking and fade and stopping power etc you can have the biggest brakes and rippa pads but need ducting and or deflectors for cooling which I notice lots of cars don't have and NEED and why we are releasing these alloy deflectors soon.

V-Sport in Arndell Park is the Sydney arm of Comp Firction.

I am reading that you have tried the DS2500's which i have found to be a good street pad and OK race pad. The rear DS2500 pad on my car crapped itself after repeated 45min sessions at Eastern Creek and i have now gone to the DS3000's which are a good track only pad.

One pad i found to be good with mimimal brake dust for both the spirited track day and driving around town was the Endless NA-R's. They are oftern overlooked as they are not easily availabe off the shelf but my personal experience has been good with these pads and they hold up well on supersprints and open days.

I was thinking about getting DS2500's for my R32 with R34 Gtt brakes and found the cheapest place was Race Brakes at $265. The guy there Howard talked me into getting some endless pads. SW03's I think. More expensive but better for the track and on the street according to him. After my first session on monday my wheels were covered in dust. but that was hard braking after a warm up period. That might be there shortfall and I'm thinking about getting RB74's down the track for driving around on the road, not that I do that much though...

I know powerplay imports stock the Nismo items, but they're pricey at $395 from memory... ouch

Just got that price today from Perfect Run. I wouldn't expect freight would be very expensive. Best price I've found and I've been pricing brake parts to upgrade my GTR.

I'm also looking at Nismo S-Tune pads -any one have experience with them?

Just curious because on Taka kairas website they don't list it as being available for a 91 model S13, only CA's for some reason??

Hey I use portafield brake pads. There is a type of material designed for vintage cars that you can get for silvias/skylines ect. If you would like more info please call V & A spiteri Jaguar in blackburn north. I have used these pads on the road and the track and have found them quite good.

Brake cooling by with ducting and or air deflectors,

Lots of cars go to the track even with larger brakes and expensive pads etc but no cooling. Like this GTR which has something now.

Pic below is fitted to R33 GTS-T but did not have the stainless bolts at the time. Nissan have a hole ready to go on lower front control arm, but not used, on the car, as if waiting for an after market titem to be fitted.

We designed it with turned up edges to trap the air and force into the middle of the rotor which is how race cars cool brakes, forcing air into middle of the rotor. V8 Supercars have a carbon fibre cone fed with ducting. With this airdeflector it will help mainly at high speed at the track and reduce temps a lot. Testing on roads are our shop on Rob's R33GTS-T fitted on one side only, and not high speed as max was only 80ks, with a heat gun it improved temps by about 10%. I expect it to be much better at high speed on the track.

I take that as a complement of our advancement rather than lack of credability from the past, you cheaky thing ?

They were designed by an engineer and ex V8 Supercar mech and myself. They will not ware out unlike ducting alone as with tyre wear adn contstant up and down motion fo suspension it wears out. Ducting can be added to point at deflector for added flow. They were manufactured in bulk by a huge laser cutting company and Tig welded and then annodised black. These fit R32, R33, R34 GTS-T and Stagea will be doing the GTR's next. R33 and R34 GTR V Spec have a factory version and Nismo make some also a bit bigger but many hundreds of dollars.

Also for track cars recommend removing factory disk backing plate.

Also someone mentioned they had DS2500 and did not last and gone to DS3000. You must have a very quick car and brake real hard and got way too hot and car is heavy and or did not bed pads in properly, which will shorten life of any race pad and or have no brake ducting or or deflectors, and still have factory backing plates and cooked them?
