We have had no specific instructions on where/when to use the new laws. I don't know if was an oversight not specifying where offences take place such as Highway or that it has been made that way on purpose. IMO the new laws are more of a scare tactic that won't be used all that often but gained lots of media attention and discussions on forums like ours. It's good for repeat offenders drivers driving whilst diqualified for example. Also if your stupid enough to get caught 45km/h over the limit you deserve to lose your car for some period of time. It's not deigned to seize cars off people taking off at lights quickly to speed limit or people that accidently lose traction on wet roads. As long as it stops/deterrs even a small percentage of people "hooning" on our roads then the laws are a sucess if you ask me.

This guy knows what he is talking about. You a 100% right. I couldn't have said it better :(

However, as the russian guy said, in most cases 0 tolerence laws/rules are usually very unsuccessfull by statistical fact. I don't really get wat all the fuss is about neway. Our society has such larger problems to deal with - drug abuse, corruption, fraud, sexual/physical abuse, pollution, inequality, war/terroism/security (altho I don't really agree that the last one is a "real" issue). Hoonish behaviour just seems so irrelevent when u look at the big picture

But didnt you all know, hoons eat babies!!!

Anyway, GTRgeoff if your serious about the qld politics thing let me know hey. Id help out with the driver education thing for sure.

Im actually a defencive driving instructor trainee (say that 10times quickly) as I couldnt see any other way I could do something to help. I gotta say tho, we get some people that the court system has sent to us. I REALLY think it needs a pass/fail system for at least those people, as some just dont learn.

Add to that training does help. Look at Roma in QLD for an example.

I think the same goes with liscences these days. You guys down south are no longer able to drive turbo and v8 cars on your p's? Along with a heap of other rules when ur on ur p's. The way I see it, if they want to avoid crashes e.c.t make it compulsary to complete and pass a defesive driving course to get ur liscence. I drive a truck around town all day every day for a living and the number of times I've seen a car that has locked up the front wheels on a roundabout in the rain and thus just understeered off the road or jump on the brakes when the car accidently goes sideways and ends up in a ditch. If these people knew how to handle there cars in a situation where they lost control they would be able to 9 times out of 10 avoid an accident. Instead they force people to never explore the limits of there vehicle due to fear of fines and liscence restrictions so when eventually these accidents happen people have no idea what to do to avoid hitting something.

Lol no i havent been done speeding in it, i was just saying if i did get busted speeding in it it would be just speeding but if i was in my skyrice then it would be hooning.

i actually agree with that 100%

the same would apply if a young person was accidently doing 20k over the limit.

compared to an elderly person doing 20k over the limit.

the younger person would be labeled more of a hoon.

imho it will just create worse accidents and probably more police chases unfortunately  if only the government would listen to the words of wisdom "prevention is the best cure" and put everyone through driving courses n alike when they get their licence.. they would think "hey, theres danger doing that.. i wont do it"

i dont know how many vic police know this fact but in the year since nsw has introduced the power limits to p plate drivers... the death count has risen considerably for p plate drivers. seems like its had the wrong effect. bandaid fix gone wrong. altho it is still in the right direction

back onto topic. jrocket where do u live? there are a number of tracks used in vic by sau-vic including the deca driving centre in shepparton which is a skidpan and short track

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
