Okay, now I know we don't have a functioning drag strip in Adelaide at the moment, but if anyone is keen to get a good deal on a set of MT ET Street Radials, I have just ordered a set of 275/40/17's from A1Performance in WA for a grand total of $265ea (+$30 freight) delivered direct from the warehouse - located on the East Coast.

Example of 275/40/17:

The local prices are mid $300's (for the places I contacted) and Rocket Industries and VPW are quoting $350+.

Mickey Thompson's legendary race tire technology comes to the street with the all-new ET Street Radial. Built using the latest in high tech radial construction techniques and years of drag racing experience in compound development, this DOT approved street legal drag radial will get your car down the track in record time and drive you home with sure handling and an excellent ride! The ET Street Radials feature a soft drag tire compound for superior traction on the drag strip and a special sidewall construction for quick launches. Radial body plys for excellent ride control on the street and a low void, directional tread pattern for maximum dry traction. The polyester ply, steel belted gives added strength and durability.

Now I just need my car finished and AIR open for drag racing again  But in the mean time I'll be using them on the road anyway - at those prices why not!?

That is a great price indeed.

Matt, are you aware these tyres are NOT street legal in Australia?

I know guys who drive to and from the track on them, even ones that have been pulled up at brethos and not busted, but it's the whole "no insurance" if you crash thing that worries me most.

They do not have load ratings marked on them.

Also, I've been advised that they are very much a straight line tyre - twisties will be right off the list if you do decide to run them. Also shocking in the wet - even damp roads are like ice.

Hope this doesn't rain on your parade too much, but I'd hate for you to find out anything like this the hard way mate.

G'day Will,

Yep was aware of that one mate - I have a 'back-up plan'. But I understand your line of thinking.

I've actually had a number of first hand reports that have stated they are reasonably capable of coping with semi-spirited cornering - that was the first question I put to the guys using them on the road. As for wet weather use... ~300rwkw, a wet road and RWD don't mix at the best of times. On the RE540s it was easy does it in the wet, on the Nittos it was easy does it in the wet... and the ETs will be no different. I don't like driving the 33 in the wet anyway. It might get dirty! :/

Yeah I was very happy with the price, Adrian.

Sorry Sean :( Conrgat's on the new PB... and your fame in the latest Zoom :P

Will, sorry if my reply above sounded a bit 'smart', upon re-reading it it kinda' sounded like I was being a bit of a smart-arse... I wasn't trying to be mate :P

I 100% appreciate your info', as it prompted me to do even more research. I'm currently waiting on more feedback as to both the legalities and cornering capabilties (of 275/40/17s in particular) from a couple of 'in the know' sources. Will hopefully have a reply COB Monday. Ultimately I will still be using them as my 'everyday' rear tyres - everyday for the Skyline means once a month :D

    • Ducan , yeah sure mate , the unit is https://www.carlinkit.com/ambient TBox Ambient -  plugs straight into the USB C and it runs as a android  unit and you can link your phone to it via Bluetooth , but it only allows for one phone at a time. you can download and apk files you want and load it on there , I downloaded a basic maps apk (OsmAnd+ — Maps & GPS Offline) so I can run navigation without data usage , its not as good at google or wazes but it works fine for what I need. I can put up screen shots if you like. Cheers Pac

    • Currently advertised with some A4 flyers up at work for $30k ono Will detail it next week, and get some good picks for carsales, then put the cover back on and put it back on the tender until someone comes to look at it No real hurry to sell, in saying this I would like it gone with in 6 months as I am retiring in May 25 and lose the ability to store the car undercover in a secured site, plus as we are moving out of Sydney the potential buyers market will be more limited https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/485907-2002-vx-ss-commodore-30000-ono/
