I have re-installed a system, but it just doesnt sound as loud as what it did it the previous car. I have a oldish pioneer deck (for some reason does not have a seperate antenna power wire?). The h/u isnt running any speakers, but has outs which go into a response 50x4 amp. The 2 channels on the amp run into crossovers which go to response tweeters and woofers. The last channel runs a response sub.

I dont really have much experience in installs but i was pretty confident that i got it right. I might need to check that the wiring coming from the amp is correct. The sub runs off the 3th channel +ive and 4th channel -ive. one side of the amp is high pass and the other side (sub) is on low pass. That sound correct? The system was pretty decent in the old vehicle, but now it just seems as though it is not as powerful. Where did i go wrong and what should i check? I can get the model numbers if required.

Also, would it be possible to just install a simple switch in line with the antenna so it only goes up when the radio is on and the manual toggle is switched?

Apparently the switch method is your only solution for a HU with no antenna control wire.

The only thing I can fault (that differs from my setup) is the front splits. I run my response amp on "full" for those, cause the crossover is supposed to split off the frequencies for high and mid. Putting it on high-pass is probably going to suck a lot of mid out of the door speakers.

I have my sub running the same, bridging on 3 and 4 on low pass.

You might have to describe what you mean by less "powerful". To me, a strong midrange makes the sound feel full and powerful... and that's probably not there with the fronts on highpass.

My amp is the 4x100wrms full-range amp.

Yeah it could be the front speakers running on high pass (but I doubt it) did you have them set on high pass in your other car.

I would have tought the most likely problem would be a dodgy earth somewhere.
