hrmm i should get an oil temp gauge lol

my pressures were fine though, didnt drop at all were normal

mate like it when i passed you down the straight was mad heheh

if the oil pressure you are referring to is your stock gauge then I wouldn't place too much stock in it. I have a defi oil pressure gauge, and the stock one and the difference in response is astounding.

I really dont like to wine or be a hater but there is one thing I didn't like about the day....Aaron McGill(think thats his name) and his crew as race director/organiser....

On two seperate occassions cars were coming out of pit lane whilst I was already halfway down the straight at full noise. I had to jump on the anchors way to early both times. This is not safe. Seems funny that they spent so much time talking about safety in the morning and saying they are the masters of it...pfffft. As if.

Also...the pit lane was not manned for alot of the day so heaps of cars were letting theselves onto the track. Whilst I think these cars are being stupid in their own right for not requesting the all clear to enter I also believe that is the crews responsibilty to ensure that all traffic onto the track is checked for wristbands and ensure the straight is clear.

I was very concerned when there was no flag marshall at the end of pit lane when that S15 caught on fire at the end of the day. Everyone was yelling out "Red Flag, Red Flag" and the flag marshall was not at his post to waive the flag.

Also, Aaron had a go at me when we did the relay/foam cup thing coz I didnt come in on the third lap. I was waiting for the chequred flag but never got one and eventually came in of my own accord. He said why the hell did you stay out...I said there was no chequred flag for me but he said there was. Later on the actual flag marshall came to me and apoligised as he did not flag me. I felt Aaron was unnecessarily aggressive towards me so pfffft. I was going to go his advanced driver training course but now I wont.

You know I totally agree with you Sam as you saw how stressed I was several times throughout the day in regards to Pitt Lane manning.

There was a very clear schedule to follow & I can't for the life of me understand why there were incompetencies in that area.

I am certainly following up these concerns with Aaron.

Cheers

Jo

That was fun to watch from behind. I was coming around to pass you both but saw you make a move so I backed off. Great race. That was one of the best parts of the day for me when the three of us kept it tight for those few laps...

Yeah an oil cooler and an oil temp guage is a must if you plan on doing more track days. Mine only nudged 100 degrees when I was thrashing it silly. Sat on 90 degrees for most of the sessions...

yo yo liz got your best time that I recorded 1min39.9 most of the other times where where 1min 41 good on ya!

thanks dude, official timing got me at 1.38.82.... dunno how i managed that lol... there was faster time listed under my name, but unfortuantely that wasn't me driving lol.

Was a good day. First for me on GP circuit and I improved every lap.

I just have one annoyance, too many cars on the track and people not thinking about how their actions or inactions affect other people. Putting around at 70k's an hour is fine for session 1 but when we're waiting 45minutes + for the next session I dont want to be stuck behind some guy out for a sunday drive around the back section...

Liz you did an awesome time in that car well done.

thanks kris! The brakes were interesting to say the least :P lol

how'd your car pull up afterwards?

no i have an aftermarket autometer oil pressure gauge. My water temps hovered around 84-89 all day and my oil pressure seemed fine too, just a smidgen under 25psi when idling which is normal, but i still think it would be a good idea for me to invest in an oil temp gauge... soon :(

noone saw me when i spun out and almost rolled my car :P

BWA you were driving ok on the day i didnt know you were driving the r32 i remember meeting you ages ago and you were pulling handbrakies in the bunnings carpark LOL... well its good to see you are taking a legal and safe approach now :) i was wondering who was in that white r32 :)

i thought of this too, when i wanted to go on the track i asked them if it was clear before hand and WAITED For them to give me the clear, as i didnt want to be the car who came out etc. i made them check before i went out last thing i want is a damaged car.

That white GTIR who came out of the pit lane during one of group 2's runs was STUPID to say the least who ever let him out whilst there were 3 cars coming down WOT on the straight and into turn 1 my mate said his abs kicked in he braked that hard to miss him he is lucky it wasnt worse. Also i didnt like the fact that there were pretty much no flag marshalls ANYWHERE besides the main pit wall.... what if something happened all of a sudden and people going flat chat with NO warning?

Hey mate that too was a great mini battle i saw you in my rear view mirror the whole time it was awesome, but sorry the SR20 POWAAAAAAA beat the RB's in this instance ahhaha :) what car number / time did you end up getting overall sewid? i love seeing people and chasing them down!

on another note, who was driving the blue pulsar? he was surley a better driver than me pulling away around the corners in the early stages when i was still gaining confidence but i still suspect he went faster in the day and set faster times than me!

He had the right idea on how to keep it safe i think the problem was that he did not have enough staff to cope with the amount of cars that turn up for Powerplay trackdays,i still had a great day and i will go again even if aaron is the man in charge

Mark,

Will you be entering the next Multi club supersprint @ Wakefield.

Get yourself some semi's and join the fun!

Shane.

talking to me?

if so, i am one of those poof's who "has a car in pieces and it's a work in progress"

wont be on the track til late this year.

anyway aaron usually runs a top day, but he's no match for luffy...

kennedy/blistc/whoever:

I have been to a number of Aaron Macgils trackdays and I have never had any problem with how the days are run. I have also NEVER seen two cars coming together. I did however on this day see people:

Ignore flags

drive the wrong way on the track!!!!!!!!

ignore what they were told in the drivers briefing

and various other displays of poor driving

Now, when you are released onto the track by the pit lane controller it is YOUR responsibility to ensure you do so safely, if you cant do that then driving on a race track with other cars is not for you. If you are not checking your mirrors as you are travelling down the pit lane exit then need to have a good think about your own safety.

I also saw a lot of inexperienced people out there tootling around but can't recall any of them asking for instruction? Having a look at some of the times a lot of you guys I'm sure you would have really benefitted from it. I know I asked for instruction but in the end there was no time. Did any of you group 4 guys ask for any help?

With that black S15 catching on fire I have to ask whose bright idea it was for him to go back on the track after an underbonnet fire? I mean once you have had to dischage and extinguisher under your bonnet to put out some serious flames that means it's time to call it a day, not return to the track, have another fire start and have to be towed home (and costing everyone else track time in the process).

The only problems I saw on the day were in my mind due to the number of entrants and the personal behaviour and choices of some drivers.

I AM REALLY PISSED OFF I MISSED THIS!

funny thing was that on tuesday night i was driving up william st at around 2am on the way home from eastern suburbs, and this silver pt cruiser came up next to me, had a short chat and he was telling me i should go to this track day!!!! (he saw the powerplay stickers on the side of my car)

was the guy i spoke to anyone here?

if i knew the z tune was coming.....!!!! DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand where your coming from BB and I was too suprised by what i experienced on the day giving Aaron's reputation as I top race director which I was well aware of. You can call me a noob all you want (not complete..I have done 3 days at Wakefield) but there are a couple of things that are inexcusable.......

1. Letting people out of pit lane whilst people are on the straight

2. Being rude and aggressive to people all because his nominated flag marshall was not doing his job

Did I ask for assistance? Well yes I did but I then withdrrew the the request because I found out that if I got an instructor then the whole session for my group would not be timed. I did not feel this was fare to the 15 other members of my group. This lack of timing for intructor passenger sessions was not the original plan for the trackday and did not want to spoil it for the rest of my group.

    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
