This one is probably best answered by the Apexi dealers - however based on my experience:

The PFC boost control kit uses the same boost solenoid as the AVC-R. The latter has some sexier capabilities such as gear based learning, scramble mode etc as well as having the ricey blue screen.

On my old S15, I had a PFC and an AVC-R. These worked independently ('tho in theory I guess you could run a parallel lead to the PFC to show boost on the H/C). For my current car - I picked up a cheap PFC and will probably use the boost control kit as I'm not particularly worried about the "Blue Screen" look and prefer functionality over looks. In the longer term I suspect an Autronic unit will find its way behind the kick pannel.

There is no need for an S-AFC with the PFC as there is no additional functionality offered by the S-AFC. Likewise with the S-ITC (ignition controller). It would look pretty ricey, however, having 3 blue screens mounted one above the other!

Hi JET-33, I agree with GAV, waste of time and money. Commander will show trace and peak hold, so if you can live without the pretty blue screen then don't bother.

Hi GAV, just gotta ask, why change from PFC to Autronic? I personally like Autronic ECU's we have used them in lots of our race cars. Other than data logging interface with a dash, I can't think of many reasons why an Autronic would be better than a PFC. Care to elaborate?

G'day Sydneykid

Actually I like the PFC, although they aren't really that popular with tuners in Perth (Lumpy excluded).

The reason that I will probably eventually go Autronic is mainly economics.

I expect to take my GTR (probably fairly soon) to the stage where I will max out the AFMs. When I change over terbs I will also want an EBC as well.

By the time you add 2 x Z32 AFMs and the boost control kit to the price of a 2nd hand PFC with H/C, you are getting near Autronic price.

Perth's summers played havoc with my S15 that was probably tuned too near the edge. With the PFC, it's not a simple matter of reverting to a more "conservative" hot weather map unless you go back to the default map, thereby losing your custom map created on the dyno.

I don't have the option of using a Datalogit as this is not (yet) available for the PFC Pro that I have.
