Bikie gang or drugs ? C'mon guys, you dont have to stoop that low ... How about hard work, saving, sacrifice and working smarter not harder ? If you just want to be part of a gang and STEAL one, think again ... If you think its worth the risk of some jailtime then sure, you might not have anything better to do ...

But the right mix of good job, business outside of work, investment of some sort whether it be shares or property will leave you with goods you will be proud of because you EARNT them not thieved them ... Its just the decay of society and we all end up paying higher insurance premiums and all share the cost of escalating crime in the community ...

IT sure sounds better then engineering. Pay sucks, hours suck, industry tradition of working young blokes into the ground as part of their apprenticeship, this really sucks (prove your worth etc, etc). Plus the culture of the industry does not exactly instill economic awareness.

I moved back home after i sustaining a serious injury. Since moving back home i have a lot more disposable income, hence my car. Only prob is i cant see the sense in moving out becuase Syd property prices scare me, and it would mean the end of road for my car. (the thought of no more mods is depressing, the car is only young and has sooooo much potential)

I am an ICU nurse, if you want to earn money...be a nurse. I am not kidding, I can earn $55 per hour for 16 hours a day on the weekends and $30 per hour on weekdays. I work an the weekends and have 3 or 4 days off a week unless there is a big bill headed my way. I have done 7 years of study to get to where I am, don't think it was all easy, but if you work hard you can do almost anything you want.

Everyone laughs when I say I am a nurse...But I have to tell them how much I get payed...not to brag but to shut them up, and shutted up they are.

My other half is a Nurse as well, best lark out there I am telling you.

i am only 22 and i borrowed $10k and saved the rest to buy my skyline. i also have a home loan to repay. i pay $70 a week for my personal loan for the skyline and $300 a week for my home loan. the reason i can afford this and all my mods and still have money left over is i work hard and do alot of over time and work close to home(10kms).

i get payed well for what i do. im a plant/heavy vehicle mechanic earning an average of $800 after tax per week including over time(i work dam hard for that) if i do heaps of over time i can get $1000 a week but then i would have no life

you can also save alot of money buy not getting pissed every night and not doing drugs and not smoking.......if ppl could control them self and not spend money on shit like above every one could afford good cars.

You're not wrong.

My mother is a DON (you know what that is).

She earns in two days what 'normal' people earn in two weeks. And let's not talk about the other 5 days...

But you don't mention the stress, the poor working conditions nor the heavy burden of responsibility...

Let's just say that she could collect GT-R's for a hobby and still dabble in real estate.

I work in IT as a field service engineer and my pay is above average. I used to work 2 jobs one as a IT Support Tech for a car dealership and another doing NSE rollouts for Fujitsu, that use to add up to 60+ hrs/week. I'm now working 35 hrs per/week sometimes less and earning more than i did before plus i gots company car :(

My advise for you guys in IT earning sh1t money is stick with it and always be on the lookout for better jobs etc etc.

Blood, Sweat, & Tears. Sacrifice, Save, & Wait. thats what I did.

Never Borrow money on a car.

Use your Home loan & pay it off completly before doing any major

modifications. Very very hard to wait - but much better in the long run. I put up with not having a good car for 4 years.

It's so hard in early 20's, but if you can hang in there, you will be

a very fast 30 year old.

Yep good advice John. I put up with a bloody auto V6 S-pack VN Dunnydore for 7 years before I got a Skyline!

Be patient, save as much as you can, minimise the initial loan amount and get exactly what you want in time. Can only be done by putting cash away on a regular basis.

i worked at coles from age 14 to 18 and saved up enough money to buy a nice silvia Q. that was in 99'. last november i found a nice 97 r33 for $32,000. Got $9000 for the trade on the silvia, borrowed $20,000 and had about 3 grand in savings to use, the rest of my savings went to on road costs and so on. Im a 4th year apprentice mechanic at a mercedes dealership. I work 7:30am till 6:30pm monday to friday and have a job i work on sundays at a repco. I Make about $600 a week and live at home, so paying of tha skyline isnt to hard but i get damn tired and not much time to enjoy things like the car.
