I have a query about GPS / Satellite Navagation Units from Japan.

I recently imported a Skyline from Japan and included was what looks like a fairly elaborate GPS / CD Rom system. I have taken the system to a few car stereo places, and each time have received a different story as to whether it will work or not...I have yet to hook it up, but would like to know whether it will work first so that I don't waste time and money.

Has anyone in Perth managed to install and use a GPS system that was imported from Japan?

Is there anyone in Perth who would be helpful in this area?

Cheers

UNfortunately i don't know much about the TV's but there are quite a few who use it as a selling ppoint when selling the car... so it should somehow work... don't osme lexus soarers come with a TV... needs a special circuit or sumfin to work ove rhere though..

ErikTufa: is this the same guy that also said that R34's are impossible to get... just be careful with some of the info that he has told you that guy hasn't really been much help to you so far.

My R34 came with TV/Sat Nav too.

The TV can be made to work but the cost would be as much as buying a new setup here.

If the Sat Nav is a Addzest (Clarion) unit it will not work here until Clarion create/sell a CD ROM for Aussie. That would cost them big bucks and the Australian market is not woth it.

Save yourself some grief and ditch it now....trust me

Cheers

The sat navagation will only work here if you have it programed to read australian positioning... could cost heaps to convert as you will probably have to speak to someone say like VDO or similar compnay who makes a sat. nav. system for there cd-rom to try n use it with your unit and hopefully make it compatible to work here.

Aero Grace - Top idea !!

I am going to buy a portable DVD/VCD player and get it working that way..

i'm also trying to use back as much of the existing system(which has a tv screen) in my car.

Seems that most of them audio salesmen aren't interested in solutions and instead are always pushing me to get one a new unit from them. I mean getting the TV to tune in to local stations would be a costly idea, but surely I can whack on a CD stacker at least?
