Yeh so ive been trying to find a pod filter air box for months, have contacted, pm'd, called and emailed various people and companies but to no avail. I did find one type some one selling "pod enclosures" but it was a aluminium box that wrapped around the filter and i didnt think this woud be legal (was the size and shape of the filter). The main reason i want it is so that i can get away with 2 intake modifications. I have no idea why no one is making these.. Are there really THAT many more r33's/r34's than r32's on Australian roads? (besides the obvious, every wog in australia driving a R33, factor)

Any ways so if some one could point me towards someone, somewhere who knows something about pod boxes, id really appreciate it.

Now call me crazy.. but I’ve got a wicked idea..

It’s just out of this world and I doubt anyone would ever think of it..

Here’s what you do..

You go and buy…

A STOCK R32 GTST AIR BOX.

Drill a 3 inch hole to the bottom of it.

Drill a 3 inch hole in the metal frame under the air box.

Buy some 3 inch PVC plumbing pipe from Bunnings and a few 45 and 90 degree bends and then put it all together so that it directs air from your front bar where intake for the stock intercooler used to sit, up to the fully sealed air box.

Put in a hi flow K&N panel filter.

How crazy is that idea?

Man I’m clever..

No-one would ever think to use the stock air box with a new air feed to it.

GTST... Whats that old saying. Great minds think alike. :P

I did this to mine some years ago.

Standard R32 Airbox.

100mm DIA hole in the bottom of it, 100mm dia hole in to the inner bumper air intake directly under the airbox.

2 x 45degree PVC pipe angles

One slips in to the other, one points slightly forward in to the airstream, the other points in to the airbox, you then trim the one that enters the airbox so that its nice and clean in the airbox.

It looks stock, paint it black modify the std cai and it can't be seen.

gtst- why do you always seem to have an annoyed tone whenever you post something up? nearly every post i can remember of yours its either some sort of sarcasm or bagging someone...

a good idea none the less though...

cheers. james.

hmmmm, wonder if i can jam a pod into my stock airbox =/

tryed that, didnt work lol

i am too in the same predicament.

wish i could find a 2nd had airbox tho, no-one has one and i aint hacking up a perfectly good one

so if anyone has a stock air-box, lemme know!

cheers

Unless its the stock box you wont get away with the 1 intake mod rule if you have a FMIC too, so custom is out of the picture.

Modding the stock box with a new feed is the best idea, especially if its underneath therefore cannot be really seen.

funnily enough i said exactly the same thing a while ago.

Uhmm but most people seem to think a pod will not fit into the stock box :(

I dont mind if its not legal, most important thing is that they cant pick it up... It's a queer rule any way

Any one else know where u can purchase a box that will FIT A POD, in it?

thx;

Alternatively, just cut out the base of the stock airbox and hide a pod in there...i have an apexi power intake pod hidden in my stock airbox...looks 100% stock from the outside...and with the base of the box gone...you'll get heaps of airflow...and if u do head to a track or something...just pull the cover off and you good to go...

LOL… few reasons.

1.) I’ve been here too long and see the same questions over and over and over.

2.) I’m sick of people asking for advice then not taking it when given and asking the question in another way.

3.) I’m just an angry old man who doesn’t have a tolerance for people who don’t listen and who don’t search.

Next we’ll see some thread asking how much power the stock air box can handle before a pod is required..

And guess what, that’s been answered/proven by many people on here from their own experience and cars.

Almost everyone has a pod filter.

Then almost everyone one of them have asked how to or where to get a heat shield for it.

Or how to get a box made for it.

I don’t understand how these people’s brains function.

A 7.3 second search on here for “AIR+BOX” or “POD+FILTER+BOX” will get a bunch of threads. It will have people posting their results or experience on them.

It will show you what power people are making with stock air boxes.

Any skyline owner.. especially the ones on this forum will know of the MINES R34 GTR.

Everyone of them would have seen the clip of “drift king” and others driving it around a track and how they are amazed at the power etc..

Everyone will see that the car still utilises the STOCK GTR AIR BOX. Yes it has a MINES intake snorkel to it but it is still a STOCK AIR BOX with a hi flow panel filter and aftermarket intake snorkel.

Everyone knows that car makes over 500hp.

So I have to question what makes people “THINK” they need to use a pod filter on their skylines with power levels of “MOSTLY” under 200rwkw.

Apart from making more sound, they do NOTHING for performance at these sort of power levels.

Car has stock air box, you buy a $80 panel filter and $10 worth of PVC piping and spend 1 hour cutting holes and putting it all together to make a duct to the air box.

Instead people spend $100 on a pod, $50 for an adapter to mount it to the AFM, then get sound and heat soaked intake air.

Then they go spend god knows how much for a patrician or air box made of carbon fibre or aluminium or white gold or something..

And STILL get worse results than the stock setup.

I was hoping that my SARCASTIC reply would make the person understand that it’s obvious what would yield the better result and cost less without calling him/her names.

That’s my cry for the day over.

Have a nice night.
