Metallic 'clank' During Shifting?

I have a 96' R33 that is making a noticeable metallic clink or clank during gear changes, hard sound to describe but it sounds like someone briefly rattles some chains when I shift! It only seems to make the sound right as the gears change at the furtherest point the cluch engages.

The box shifts nicely and the car drives perfectly. Any suggestions on what I can look at?

It is hard to pinpoint the source being that shifting gears while stationary does not seem to create the noise - there needs to be revs / movement...

sounds like shagged/unlubricated syncros (dont take my word for it, i drive an auto!!).

try a gearbox oil change and see how you go from there. use the good stuff if you can.
