Hoffman
Hey all, just got myself a '92 R32 and have decided not to go with full comp insurance as I'm on my Ps and cant afford the ridiculous fee. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend an insurer for my CTP, as I've heard a few import owners speaking of a number of insurers I hadn't previously come across. So if anyone knows a cheap one, please let me know. Oh and I'm in melbourne. Shit I just noticed the insurance thread, i'll have a read but if there are any recommendations let me know. Cheers Edited September 5, 2006 by Hoffman Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/ Share on other sites
neil_se
CTP costs only vary with the number of cylinders, not the type of car so it really only varies by a couple of dollars between insurers. Beer Baron
compulsory third party. you need it for rego. it is to pay for people you injure whilst driving. MANWHORE
nsw has a hotline. do you guys have one? the price for me litereally varied about 90c across all the companies. I just went with nrma since there is a branch near me. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2466083 Share on other sites

xRHETTx
Victoria doesnt have a seperate CTP. You pay your rego, and it has the insurance included in it already. Are you talking about third party insurance? Then places like Just cars and Shannons etc are your best bet. But I'd highly reccommend getting comprehensive insurance. It seems expensive but you get what you pay for. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2466590 Share on other sites

CTP or greenslip is privatised in NSW. It was introduced (15 years ago??) in an effort to lower the cost of CTP but ultimately has cost alot more and more over the years Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2466829 Share on other sites
siddr20
Hasnt the price for CTP gone up?? i remember seing an ad by that blue heelers star, sayin greenslip is now covered for young teenagers who are injured, therefore the price is a little stepper.. Or something along those lines.. I got rego due soon as well.. So need to hunt for cheap greenslips.. hmm Edited September 6, 2006 by siddr20 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2467055 Share on other sites

predator
ctp won't insure the car itself from 3rd party damage to property, only individuals you may damage. biggest misconception in QLD Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2467101 Share on other sites
32GTRB
that website above has a comparison for most (if not all) companies which offer ctp greenslips, a compulsory thing for rego in nsw. if you cant afford comprehensive (its piss ass expensive for p'platers, 3.2k for me, plus a 2k excess), i recommend you get ctp and then a 3rd party insurance, such as just cars 3rd party fire and theft, which will cover anyone you crash (i.e fix their car not yours), and will also give you $5000 in the event of a fire or theft. i remember doing an online quote for an r33 and it turned out to be somewhere around $540 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/133096-cheapest-ctp/#findComment-2467295 Share on other sites
siddr20
What if you dont purchase CTP at all?? I know it cover you in an event of an accident. But im talkin about legal issues. Ie. will you get a fine for not taking it? Or you are unable to drive your car etc etc?? something like that. That's the basic one that covers fire and theft and costs around $500 per year right? walkoau
i found NRMA to be the cheapest for ctp, that is if ur over 25 and MUST provide proof of full comprehensive insurance i think i paid $328 by memory... thanks. Beer Baron
i think ctp and 3rd party are around the same price. dude. CTP IS THRIRD PARTY. That's what it stands for. Compulsory Third Party I believe what this gentleman is interested in is "Third Party Property, Fire and Theft". Which is NOT CTP. Third party property covers the damage you cause to someone elses property, and will pay you out $5000 in the case of your car being claimed by fire, or stolen. Personally I think it's a waste of money. The payout is very small compared to the premium. Far better to just bite the bullet and pay for Comprehensive insurance.
