Signs Of Dying Auto Tranny?

i was wondering what are the signs of a auto transmission on its way out?

Now i am aware that if its on its way out then it would rev high and not move anywhere, but are there any other symptoms?

reverse is usually always the first gear to go...

I found before mine let go it would change between 3rd and 4th randomly and sometimes didn't like to stay in 4th or wouldn't go in at all.

Other than that there was no slipping or anything. There was a loud bang... then 3rd and 4th didn't work any more!

check the oil condition. if its all burnt then thats the first sign.

if its lazy kicking down. like it disengages and revs then goes clunk into gear, aka flaring.

noisy operation. like whining sound.

basicly just being sloppy.

first and seccond dont wanna work anymore

too many burnouts kill auto's there not designed for it.

- extra-long flaring between gear changes

- burnt trans oil

- you were just out drag racing and were D-slamming

my m8s gave first gear because he was going backwards real fast and slammed it into drive while stamping on the accelerator and then spinning the wheels

afterwards it was real slow of the mark and had no power till it got into 2nd it couldent even get up a curb

yeah that's called "d-slamming"

as in slamming it into drive with revs on it
