I been offered a cheap xbox 360, it comes from China. Are all xbox's the same, I mean, will an american or european xbox work in Australia????. If not, can they be chipped?????

This one works out to ~A$350 delivered with 3 controllers & 2 games included....

thats cheap, no idea what region china is - xbox360 is region specific, like dvd players... the current 'mod' doesn't allow you to play different region games, but some games aren't region locked....

are you sure its legit?

WTF ... I took a punt & bought it anyway. Way I look at it, I either do my money ($350) from dealing with spurious inscrutable orientals, or, (& I always was an optimist) I get a really cheap xbox 360.

I can get lots of region free games (if you know where to look). & I can always get the thing chipped to play local games anyway.

So the next question is ... how long does it take to come from beijing ???

There is no chip that will play all regions, don't get scammed. the only hack for the 360 is the dvd drive firmware one and that only allows you to play backups from the same region and thats it.

DAMN!!!!!!!!! I knew it was too good to be true!

This means I'm gonna stay with my original plan of geting an original modded XBOX (hopefully with heaps of games pre-installed).... off to ebay I go! :)

Thanks for the heads-up dude!!! :P

LOL i mean the voltage will be universal also.

Yo ferni, organising some Verbatim DVD9s today so hopefully ill have them sent out to be tested some time soon :D

Do u guys from the east side go visit 'Annie" for blanks?

s2k12

Id say so, but Australia gets all the crumbs anyways, get an NTSC machine and youd open up the chance at at least 20% more games than on the Aussie Market.

I've been told the xbox is on it's way. I'm pretty sure it's a bundled system they sold in the USA. This retailed in the US for USD$750 ~AUD$1000. What I paid makes it a VERY cheap xbox, hopefully there won't be any road rash on the box when it fell off the truck ....

Since this is probably a US system, that would make it NTSC, does that mean it won't work on Australian TV sets?????

NTSC is the output format in USA and Japan... 480 horizontal lines, PAL is used in most of europe and australia... 576 horizontal lines.... but come to think of it, since the xbox can output HDTV and most people will use the HDTV signal, i don't think PAL/NTSC comes into it.... maybe something in the game that checks NTSC game on NTSC xbox....

Most modern TV sets will display NTSC signals anyway.... check your TV Manual?

Step down transformer 65 Watt = $66, 100 Watt = $88. That would bring the total up to, say, $450. Still very cheap.....

All i need is the actual xbox now.

I dont know where you heard that a 66W or 100W supply will be adequate but your wrong, you will need a 500W step down to run the 360.

A friend of mine imported an NTSC on on release and he is using a 550W step down, they get quite hot aswell and must be well ventalated.

You are not getting a good deal here will will end up paying the same amount if not more as a PAL console and then when you want games you will have to import them.

I think you should have done your research before you bought it thinking it was a good deal.

Heres some links on stepdown info

Was this bid @ auction?

I saw on Jay Leno not too long ago that someone was selling an XBOX BOX and it went for HEAPS!! i dont think the person who won the bid realised it was just the box, i hope they dont stooge u the same way!!

And coops on the money when it comes to having to import games its gonna cost u ALOT more in the long run and if its NTSC-J they games wont even be in English!?!
