Will 255's Fit On A 8 Inch Rim

Not recommended. Assuming you're talking about 255/40/17 tyres, recommended wheel width is 8.5 - 10 inch.

Ok to confirm short answer yes but it would cause the car to handle badly?

Would it help with straight line grip over 235's?

I had 275/40's on 17x8" rims and they were great.

i agree with this, although it would help with straight line grip.

i had used 255s on a 7.5 inch rim and the rear end was like jelly, the bulge was big.

it may not be BAD but it wont be ideal, so dont do it if u like corners

for track/drag yeah maybe...for everyday street...No...and if i'm not mistaken is probably illegal as well...ring a tyre shop and they'll confirm. 235 or 245 is the max I'd go on 8" wide rims for everyday driving.

sorry to bump 7 yr old thread but saw no point in creating the exact same thread...

found really cheap new rims to get me by but they are 8' wide and i need to fit 255's on them

i know its preferable to fit 235's on 8' wide wheels but is fitting 255's dangerous in anyway?(no track work , just a light daily driver)

There's no point if it's a daily car, just use a 235/45 tyre, it will fit and be much cheaper (more common size) so more options available for your money. A good 235/45 will give you better grip/handling than a cheap 255/40 on an 8" rim.

But if you want some traction and don't want to spend an arm n a leg slap a pair of these on the back.
