Hey all,

I took ownership of my first R33 Skyline a couple weeks ago and in the last few days the tacho has been doing something strange at a certain rpm.

For probably the first 10 mins of driving the tacho runs perfectly smoothly all the way through the rev range, but then all of a sudden when it hits about 3300rpm the needles starts flicking all over the place until i hit about 4000rpm and it continues on perfectly again...

over a period of driving it doesnt get any better until i turn off the car and start it again and then it will operate properly once again for maybe 10 minutues...

Any ideas?

probably means theres a cold solder joint somewhere behind it or possibly (but hopefully not as it would be annoying to fix) the wire from the ecu earthing out somewhere.

try picking up a 2nd hand dash cluster for $150 or so and fit that up. Prob cheaper than paying an auto electrician to suss the problem out.
