I was just watching some footage of him on the weekend from Bathurst 87. Some of the most awesome driving ever seen on the mountain in the wet. this sucks.

Driver killed in WA crash may be Peter Brock

A leading racing driver has reportedly died in a racing accident in Western Australia.

There are unconfirmed reports that the dead man is nine-times Bathurst 1000 winner Peter Brock.

Sky News reported the accident took place in the Targa rally event in WA and involved one car, which crashed into a tree.

Brock was driving a 5.7 litre Chevrolet V8 Daytona sports car in the Targa race.

The 1150kg car was built as a modern interpretation of the 1965 Shelby Daytona, which dominated the World Sports Car Championship that year.

Brock's co-driver was to be Mick Hone, a Melbourne motorcycle dealer who was team manager for the Works Suzuki team in 2000.

Thought I might go up and say hi to him at one stage but he was with others and I'd probably get to see him another time anyway....

Motor racing champion Peter Brock has reportedly been killed in an accident in Western Australia.

A car competing in the Targa West rally crashed into a tree at Gidgegannup about 30 kilometres north-east of Perth about 12pm, a Western Australia police spokesman told smh.com.au.

The car was carrying two people and one had died in the crash, he said.

The major crash investigation unit was at the scene, he said. Ambulances were not called.

The spokesman could not confirm the driver was Mr Brock, although that is being broadcast on Sky News.

Wow, this is unebelievably sad ive met him a few times to get pictures taken with him and get autographs and hes one of the nicest blokes out their, what a sad week for Australia, R.I.P Brocky

very sad news. I met him a couple of times. And most recently at the melbourne GP where he signed a poster for me. He even gave me some weird advice. Strange guy, but very friendly and a damn good driver.
