Got this from boostcruising.com:

Peter Brock Memorial Cruise - 24th September 2006

THIS HAS BEEN APPROVED AND ENDORSED BY THE MODERATORS OF BOOSTCRUISING.

After the tragic incident that happened today to one of the greatest race car drivers of our modern generation and past, it is a sad day for all motor enthusiasts. It's not been a great week for australian citizens and has saddened all by this tragidy.

On the 24th of September (YES WE KNOW JAMBOREE IS ON) we will be holding a memorial cruise in honour of Peter Brock. The details will be as follows: -

Date - 24th September 2006

Location - Somerset Dam via Mountain run (Exact specifics TBA)

Meeting points - TBA

A Moderator of the site has kindly getting behind this event and will be having a mini show n shine: Best 4, Best 6, Best 8, Best 4x4 and Best overall.

Once we reach the dam we will be having a bbq with drinks. I will inform more on this once things have been finalised.

This thread is a expression of interest thread. Please feel free to say whether you would like to attend and i hope we all pull together for a great day and enjoy a CRUISE in his honour.

ONCE AGAIN WE DO KNOW THIS IS THE SECOND DAY OF JAMBOREE.

Thank you all and hope to see you there.

Well we dont have to cruise with them, as suggested above organise our own cruise in the daytime, a mountain run to me is a road race, pushing limits and primarilly why they are banned on this site, criticising others efforts is not what this is about, let them do what they want.

I know its a big ask but I'm going to try and get in contact with some of the Torana/Commodore owners here in QLD and maybe organise a Memorial Sprint day consisting of street cars classes he raced ie A9X sprints , LC Torana sprints, VS Commodore.

Owners of these types of cars would be invited to race or be envolved in a show and shine hopefully all at QR

It's going to take a lot to organise but I think its a fitting tribute to the Brock

yeah i also have the feeling he would of made a wise crack about the nissan if he were still with us... him and dick johnson were legends when i was a kid... so im also leaving this one to the holden fellas out there... being one myself before my current was finally baught. >_<

RIP Brock

will be sorely missed

Hi,

Boostcruising does not endorse "mountain runs" either.

It's a little silly to suggest that our Memorial Cruise is bound to end up being a "race around a mountain" when we are using a similar route as the "Massive Skyline Cruise" used by SAU late last year.

We're simply paying our respects in the only way we know how, if you choose to join us, please do, otherwise, please stay away. Do as you please there's no point arguing about it that's disrespecting the memory of one of Australia's best motorsport icons we've ever seen.

    • Right, its been a while for updating this car, but I made some small but important progress today. In the end I bought an Ecutek dongle from the Australian distributor Tunehouse (for local hardware support) but have gone with a remote tune from Racebox in the US (because they have done millions of these, and I could not find any tuner where I could access the tune anyway as they are all password locked). The App is reasonably easy to work with, but the PC software reminds me of Haltech's ECU Manager that you need to use with the Plat Pro ECUs, it is a nightmare.  Anyway, I sent the details over, got back a tune file and a request for data logs. I finally got a chance to access a private test track today as they want redline logs in 3rd and 4th, and have sent them back for the first round of reviews. The main difference in the tune is going from 1.0 (stock) to 1.3 bar (19psi), although I'm sure is a lot of other stuff in the background. Keeping in mind this is a dead stock car with 125,000klm, this is what the App's performance test claimed: Before After Interesting to note that both 400m tests had the same terminal speed (158klm/h) but different ETs. And no, the speed limiter seems to be higher than that at 186kl/h. Summary of the key logged parameters for the 3rd and 4th gear runs were: Those little turbos were certainly whizzing at 200,000rpm+.  Also I'm really not that excited about oil pressure 55psi at redline so I think I'll go thicker than 5w30 (nissan recommend 0w20....) and see if that improves it. Other than that (and the big boost spike....) everything looks good as a start to me.
    • Just one more post to show the final result and the original "janky" solution for a laugh. Everything feels really tight and no wobbling at all, very pleased 🙂
    • After drying a few days, time to put her back together
    • The hot exhaust light will come on not from just the cat being blocked, but it's just a temp sensor, and it's designed to warn you to not do things like park in long grass.   If you've been pushing the motor a bit, it can cause the light to come on.   Second if the cat is rattling, I'd suspect it's not blocked, but instead falling apart inside.   The easiest "fix" until you can get a cat put back in, is to unbolt your one, bash the rest of the insides out, and then bolt it back in.   For a daily driver/street car, I am in agreeance of put a cat in the car. If it were race car I wouldn't care if it were removed.
