Took my car for a drive for the first time in a month or so today. It seems to be running really badly at certain points in the rev range and feels like it's hesitating.

Basically wondering if this is a sign of my airflow meter being on its way out?

Any other suggestions what could be causing this? Engine doesn't like to rev past 5500rpm at all... every so often it seems to run fine for a quick period of time.

When the AFM on my RB20DET started playing up it was fairly similar to what your explaining, some days it would drive fine but others it would refuse to go above about 3500RPM and would cough and splutter etc

So yeah try your luck with a second hand AFM from SSS or somewhere similar.

Also try cleaning the AFM with some electrical contact cleaner spray first - give it a good thorough spraying and see if it makes a difference. May fix it, if not try get hold of another AFM.
