Cam Gears

Hey peeps

I am aware of the gains you can get in the top half of the rpm range with cam gears however i am curious wether or not cam gears (inlet/exhaust on rb20) can reduce lag??

I was never told that they could reduce lag, i was under the impression you'd want cam's aswell if thats what you wanted.

Anyone shed some light on this?

You do get a very, very , very small gain in the mid range but nothing that you will really notice. Cams make a very noticable difference.

they help a fair bit

in terms of bringin full boost on earlier?

I am aware you get hp gains out of them, thats not what im after atm

If you run a cam gear on the inlet side on a rb25 with VCT. Will the VCT work or does the Inlet Cam Gear take over??

when i upgraded my rb20 turbo to an rb25 i also added cam gears

i noticed no difference in lag and i put it down to the cam gears

you can not run a cam gear on the inlet on rb25 vct, they are different to the std gears. The inlet cam gear is what actually adjusts the cam timing on the VCT engine.

Would you have to get in and ex cam gears to achieve earlier boost or the exhaust camgear will do on a rb25 engine? Because I thought that the rb25 can be adjusted already?

the inlet cam gets adjusted buy the motor from standard. haveing fleability in the exhaust can gear will give you more power, quicker spool and better midrange.
