I wonder what K&N would charge for a pod filter for one of those bad boys, if they actually were turbo's.

An engine that size wouldnt exactly be spinning at enogh revs to spool a turbo, id think...

Well this T88-34D is pretty big, and its on the floor of my room... not hanging off a power station... pumping water...

haha and for $2500 it could be on the floor of YOUR room!!

hmm i suppose thered be a shite-load of momentum in a turbo that size at 600rpm. Would need a half-hour turbo timer. but i guess it wouldnt get that hot.

Is it actually a turbo? as in, driven by exhaust fumes? or is it just a motor-driven pump... Looks like just teh compressor, no impellor

Doesent get hot at all as its a water turbine (Hydro). Water enters the valve on the left and spins the impellor inside which is connected to a generator via a shaft. Generator creates the 3000 kw. It uses variable vane technology like the new porsche turbso to regulate the flow of water and different head pressures to maintain the 600rpm rotation speed.

When the valve is turned off and the water stopped it takes the impellor around 20 minutes before it stops spinning if the hydraulic brakes aint used.

All those earlier ones that pump water or whatever...i reckon they still qualify.

Just cause the pump water instead of air doesn't mean the aint turbines.

Turbos are just small turbines anyway.

that being said....i wanna find a pic of the one on a diesel powered cruise ship!
