MattR,

I'd have been stoked to get 3 runs in :( I had a grand total of 1 single solitary shitty f*#ked up run from 6pm till 11pm. $50 to wait 2.5-3hrs only to be told - "go home it's over". Don't get me wrong, I understand that the sheer number of cars was the cause, but SURELY they could've altered the nights schedule to accomodate the unusually large number of entries!?

It wasn't until I suggested they start using ALL the line up lanes to stop cars blocking access that they did something about it!

16.3 @ 110+mph w/spin to buggery & missed 2nd gear - F@$K IT!

OK I've calmed down now...........

Right back to topic - I'll start a new thread purely for everyone to register their intention to run. If you're keen then post in the new thread. I know it'll depend on date & time etc.. but if you're keen give me your "yes" & then when we have numbers we'll go from there :(

Cheers ALL,

Matt

Yeah matt the nite was a joke, I dont think the organisers expected that many cars to turn up. Mayb they should start scruitanering at 12 or so and start runs when there are enough cars through??

Both Willowbank in QLD & Kwinana in WA have wed night test & tunes & sat night street drags every week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are we ripped off here or what - it is a bloody joke.

No wonder there is so much speeding on the street in SA.

BTW- I put the works wheels of the R34 on the silver R33 today(Dougs old car) & the Nismo LMs on the R34. They both look sweeet. Will have to set up a site to host some photos soon.

seems like it was good i didnt bother running, only 3 runs tops for most, last time i had 5 runs and i stuffed around between runs.

MattR the 540s need to be launched hard, a bit of wheel spin is always better than bogging down. Where your tyres new as i had a s/h set and they didnt seem that grippy.

For anyone interested my best run was a 13.412 @ 104.5mph .... with a 1.932 60' (little bit of wheelspin right through 1st then a nice fat chirp into 2nd). I did 3 runs and the other 2 runs I missed 2nd on both but got a 1.902 60' on one run for a 13.816 and a 1.993 60' for a 13.914 .... was still quite nervous but learning a lot and getting the hang of it now.

I have videos of my runs and some of Munro's too I believe. I will sort them out and upload some shortly.

Thanks guys .... now I just gotta remember to change out of 1st at 6,000rpm rather than on the redline, actually get it into 2nd properly every time and not to rev out to limiter in every gear (power production falls away a bit over 6,000rpm). Might try taking out my 40kg sub box, as well as spare tyre, tools, jumpers etc too for the 'May Drag Day'!

Hopefully then I can get down into the lower 13's!

What would you guys say about a bike joining in? A mate of mine is interested in coming with his bike. Only if its cool wit you though... might be a nice benchmark?

Perhaps if you need to make up number closer to the date.

Ok more info just to hand -

The GSR club will have a few members attending. Ivan & RPM are a major sponsor of these guys.

PRICING:

AIR have quoted ~$4000 for a single lane, full staff, track prep, time slips etc... They have never done a 2 lane private day!? Ivan is keen to have both lanes if at all possible? AIR will get back to him in a day or so on this.

If we get both lanes then a maximum of ~70 cars will be set (35 per lane is plenty for lots of runs each )

If we can only have a single lane ~35-40 cars will be it.

Ivan is keen to keep entry to $100 absolute max, preferably less than this.

We are also keen to get a 12pm to 8pm time slot (ie day/night meet) once again this'll depend on AIR & pricing.

Cheers,

Matt

Joolz make sure the Jaffa mobile comes along and you can be his pit crew :) .... or failing that I will need someone to help me push the car when I break it :)

    • What are your plans for your blow off valves? Purely plumb back? How soft will the spring in them be? AFM can be tricky to get super smooth and nice, especially depending on the rest of the system, and then can be very easily upset if something slightly changes. IE, even if you run recirc blow off valves, you could still see issues getting it to behave at certain load points as turbos might start to spool, but you release the throttle but it's not enough pressure to crack the bov open to recirc, and you can end up with reversion which can cause double metering, and hence dumping of fuel into the system, and stalling the engine.   If you're going to run a map sensor for closed loop boost control from the ECU, what makes you want to keep the AFM?
    • It's not bad, it's just not flexible. And say if you have any leaks between the MAF and plenum, well then your load axis goes out the window. Here's a real world scenario, I blew off an intercooler hose last track day, as the clamp decided to Bluetooth itself somewhere. Still continued to do 2 laps and drive it to the pub for a couple of beers then home. Good luck doing that with a MAF setup
    • Is MAF load really that bad? I'm not trying to do big power, my only real desire is VCAM and flex fuel support so I'm not terrified of blowing my engine apart from CA's appalling 95 RON "premium" fuel. Stuff like playing with closed loop boost control and really dialing in my transient fueling and ignition are frankly just to prove to myself I remembered something from uni.
    • Thats what ive been doing. Ive got a million questions but i know theyve probably all been answered before at some stage. Todays research included nismo heritage seat covers, s3 projector headlight retrofits and how to remove/paint the rocker covers
