Hey,

Basically I haven't had much luck finding any ok prices for a 32 sedan. Going for a GTS25 (the RB25DE) manual. Any idea where to look or know any up for sale?

Thanks.

(yes i've seen the silver one that was formally an RB20DET now with an RB25DE VCT, thats the first one i've seen for ages that could be ok and not asking like 10k for an old non turbo engine)

does the 4 door come in the gts25 configuration?

out of curiosity, why are you after the rb25 non-turbo rather than teh gool 'ol rb20 version?

Well I don't know if its called a GTS25 in a sedan but the sedan does come with the RB25DE afaik. A few reasons are:

*not really after to much performance

*insurance costs at my age - im just assuming they will be a fair bit higher then with the non turbo

*price, generally they seem to sell for lower more reasonable prices from what i've seen

I mean if there was a good deal on a RB20DET i'd still be interested but at the 10kish mark its not really on my radar to much. I don't have 10k to spend at the moment (buying car out in full so no loan's) and I don't think its worth it for me to pay that kinda money for something I don't need when I could just keep saving and get something newer reasonably quickly.

why not just get an R31 and keep the cash in savings for a bigger and better car later?

really, the gts25 doesn't have any kind of performance other than its handling and looks...

i know its not what you want to hear, but its an option and one i personally think is worth considering

otherwise keep a watchful eye on

For 10k you could most probably import yourself a nice, clean, newer NA R33 Sedan (might not be eligible though as it might not meet power to weight requirements... will have to double check). Failing that a turbo R33 sedan can be imported for sure, and no one ever bids on em at auction, so you'll get em dirt cheap.

Hardly any R32 GTS25's came into the country under the old import scheme, so chances of finding one are rare, but they might still meet the power to weight requirements of SEVS, so you could always look at importing your own.

Failing that, tell your step brother to bring back a car from canada (they still have the 15yr rule over there and can import a lot of nice stuff). Our canadian website should give you an idea of what they can get :P

nice advertisement for your company there shan..

mate you've got it setup perfectly! your step brother can sell you his R31 for cheap.. it probably goes just as hard as an NA R32 or R33 anyway...

then in 2-3years when everyone's skyline has depreciated and you have a few more g's saved up you can pick a good condition turbo skyline for the same/less than you would have otherwise gotten an NA skyline :D

as i said, its not the most pretty option as its always fun to get the best thing you can sometimes, but finantially it makes good sense

anyway let us know how you decide...

lol sure you can get stuff into canada pretty cheap but then getting it back to aus :( I've considered a R33 sedan but I just can't seem to get past the rather uglyness of them to me.

Lol the idea behind the RB25DE was if i ever felt the want or need I could just turbo it for pretty cheap and then have more power then the RB20DET, or RB30 conversion it lol. Basically it seemed like a ok building block to start with if I did wanna mod it as well as keeping for cheaper insurance and hopefully purchase price originally. :D twin 250hp motor (so 500... ) 27ft. sharkcat sitting on the coast atm, would hate to have a car that used as much fuel as it though lol, 200 litres of tanks on that thing.

"hen in 2-3years when everyone's skyline has depreciated and you have a few more g's saved up you can pick a good condition turbo skyline for the same/less than you would have otherwise gotten an NA skyline"

Not gonna wait 2-3 years lol, would have hopefully moved onto a better car by then.. i mean like saving for, in that time i should have 15-20k cash, won't wanna spend it once I get a decent amount in the bank lol... ah well.

Just wanted a decent handling car that doesn't feel like it struggles everywhere, can't stand cars that stuggle or handle like crap. My step bro has been putting a fair bit of work into the R31 lately, like just making sure everything is good and replacing anything that needs to be which seems kinda silly as he is heading overseas soon so i'm thinking he may actually intend to leave it here for me (don't have my own car) even if it is for a price. Would be a pretty good option as well cause I could try some actual stuff myself, maybe chuck on a better exhaust or something that can be picked up cheap.

yeah thats true, the gear box in it (auto) is going a bit and slowly getting worse, how much would a replacement tranny set me back, preferably manual + extra stuff to convert it from auto to manual. If its to much just won't bother and will put up with the transmission crapping up a bit.

    • Just wanted to pop in an update on my setup. The CD swap has been great, I love the mazworks housing for the overall simplicity. I ended up sealing my trans tunnel with a thin sheet of aluminum reused some of the holes on the trans tunnel, and laid some window sealing EPS foam around the edges. Works great, really quieted things down and sealed up the car.  As for the power comment. Right now I am also running about 650whp. with the way the bell housing is attached to the face of the transmission I have zero doubts it would be fine, mainly because the input shaft and main shaft bearings are seated into the bell housing adapter. This means the load is NOT on the bolts to maintain the power, rather into he casing of the bell housing; Yes the bolts are doing some work there, but with both shafts locked in zero worries.  End of the day, the Mazworks solution is the easiest and safest. no need to take your trans to a shop to get milled perfectly, it fits with minimal clearancing, and you can use all your existing clutch and flywheel.  Driving wise the CD has been great compared to the big box, I'll probably swap my final drive at some point. The serial 9 shifter is gooooood, my only qualm is how tight it is, it takes a fair bit to get use to, 5th and 6th are a bit eh/hard to find at times, but maybe I need re-adjusting, and I think my clutch master is very tired and needs a rebuild.
    • If you are keen, have a look at my build thread. Car is for sale for the right money or straight swap for a F80 M3 LCI.
    • Welcome mate.  No point in over thinking it, buying any one of those cars you mentioned is not a smart or logical choice with the availability of many "better" (re price to performance) cars available to you.  The heart wants what the heart wants, buy whatever it leads you too.
    • Hey everyone! Im so grateful to be apart of this community and ill do my best to be apart of this. Firstly, i'm not disclosing my real name due to in real life circumstances surrounding my privacy and public image (sorry lol) Secondly, The only thing personal I am willing to share is that I'm from Sydney and a descendant of one of Sydneys largest mortgage firms. I got gifted my first ever car, a 2022 Porsche Cayenne and I love it to death. Ive been driving it for about 5 or 6 months now and honestly Im so grateful for my parents for gifting me this vehicle. However recently I've been working my ass off to afford my second car (which I need help deciding soooooo community help me out please?). Once decided, im planning to try modify it myself. Recent I've been thinking about getting a Skyline, particularly a 25GT or GT-V, yes I know overrated as hell, but I'm also considering a Chaser which I recently came to love. However my dream is to one day own a 180SX (So hard to find clean versions and im not really into importing).  Lastly before I send this off, I want to apologize if I sound tacky or pretentious. I try not to and want to genuinely learn from everyone and anyone. (Im no expert in this area) Thanks for reading!
