Both replies true but not much of an explanation :D

It's called compression lock because it's the opposite of a burnout. Lookup howstuffworks.com and look for drivetrain/differential or gearbox and click around.

Rev matching is using the accel to match the engine speed to the geared road speed. Again if you read through howstuffworks on it should be easy to pickup.

To stop it either be easier on the clutch, shift down into lower revs, learn to rev match (search).

I heel toe-ed when I downshift and that's when the lock occured.

then need to practice heel and toe a bit more.....that used to happen to me as well
