neons are great if your male hunting for a boyfriend :D

so it worked for you then?

Grow up dude. "if I dont like them, they must be gay, cos im the be-all and end all of car modifying"

Different people have different tastes.

PS - Neons dont make you gay. Dicking someones ARSE does, bwud.

Didnt your momma sit you on her knee and give you that chat? Might be a bit late for it now, i think...

ok gazza.

ROFL @ neons dont make u gay, dicking someones arse does

hahahahah

haha good to see someone ELSE with common sense.

Mr Anderson... Kinks.... people that throw a cheap set of neons that add maybe 1kg to your car are called gay, whereas guys that put 20" chrome wheels on their car at 20kg a corner are heros.....????? righto. Eat c*ck.

Buy a commodore, Mr Anderson! And get used to the sound of balls slappin against your chin.

I dont even have neons. Everyone has their own taste, is my point. Some people buy big rims, some get their door trims done, some buy stereos. Some do lighting. None of it makes your car quicker. Everyone herehas spent money on their car that hasnt exactly been to make it quicker. Whos call is it to say what is cool and what is shit? Not you, cos you are a c*ck...

l.e.ds or neons? dont get either

i guess if your going to drop someone off at a formal people will look no matter what your driving (personaly i rocked up to mine in a friends mums kombi van just for a laugh) and if you think they wont look then go get a 4 inch $80 fart cannon from autobarn then you will really turn heads.

id go for an interior effect its still tacky but not so full-on it costs less and you will get more use out of it too.

my friend has uv tubes in his commo he also has tinted windows, these combined at night time make white clothing glow and give a really trippy ghost like effect.....its rice but who really cares we all drive japanese cars anyway

wow, now there's putting words into my mouth. chromies make me vomit, too. I've got standard rims on my car and I'm tempted to get them re-clearcoated to improve the finish.

My last car had its wheels painted black, and it looked good.

Each to their own, but 99% of the time when I see neons it makes me laugh uncontrollably.

this thread is useless without pics :(

ahem....

erm...

you umm... you mean pics of the lights right? not of er... balls slapping and... yeah? Cos... dude... wrong site.

lol a bit sensitive are we :) no actually i rekon chrome looks crap... same with commodores - they drive like sh*t too

well mate got led's and it depends where u point it, point the 180 degrees inward (so in the direction of each other)

that's the trick to them, so funny how soo many cars that get about $30, 000k spent on them and some of the led install are by dumb dumbs.

that is such a good. the main thing im worried about is the spotty look ive seen on some cars. but pointing at each other youd think the light would be more evenly spread out

    • Yep, there's a very minor drift left that happens a few seconds after letting go of the steering wheel, but not enough to bother me. Enjoying the car still!

    • Sounds good.  I don't 100% understand what your getting at here. When you say, "I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down" do you mean this - there is a panel with factory paint, without any prep work, they paint the entire panel with primer, then colour then clear?  If that's what you mean, sure it will "stick" for a year, 2 years, maybe 3 years? Who knows. But at some stage it will flake off and when it does it's going to come off in huge chunks and look horrific.  Of course read your technical data sheet for your paint, but generally speaking, you can apply primer to a scuffed/prepped clear coat. Generally speaking, I wouldn't do this. I would scuff/prep the clear and then lay colour then clear. Adding the primer to these steps just adds cost and time. It will stick to the clear coat provided it has been appropriately scuffed/prepped first.  When you say, "but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat" I am imagining someone not masking up the car and just letting overspray go wherever it wants. Surely this isn't what you mean?  So I'll assume the following scenario - there is a small scratch. The person manages to somehow fill the scratch and now has a perfectly flat surface. They then spray colour and clear over this small masked off section of the car. Is this what you mean? If this is the case, yes the new paint will eventually flake off in X number of years time.  The easy solution is to scuff/prep all of the paint that hasn't been masked off in the repair area then lay the paint.  So you want to prep the surface, lay primer, then lay filler, then lay primer, then colour, then clear?  Life seems so much simpler if you prep, fill, primer, colour then clear.  There are very few reasons to go to bare metal. Chasing rust is a good example of why you'd go to bare metal.  A simple dent, there is no way in hell I'm going to bare metal for that repair. I've got enough on my plate without creating extra work for myself lol.
