the performance loss from running an unshielded pod is small. the air is heated by the act of being compressed by the turbo, then is cooled by the intercooler before it goes into the motor.

I always thought that running cold air into the Air Pod was a advantage than running hot air? Why would everyone have boxes and heat sheilds to stop the hot air from going in then?

The turbo will heat up the air but if the air is already cold it shouldnt heat up as much as hot air would......

"the performance loss from running an unshielded pod is small" doesnt sound right to me. at the traffic lights with an unshielded pod im sure it heats up quite abit thus creating a loss of power. I remember someone put a probe and got temperature readings which were pretty high. imagine in the aussie summers we have been having. not to sure if it would be a very safe thing.

on a car thats using the stocker boost levels, i reckon it would without a doubt.

the stocker I/C seems to fail and hurt performance on increased levels (something it wasnt designed for)
