go the GTT mate

r32 r's are a dime a dozen and really not worth the heartache od owning such an old car, unless you're going to big it up majorly with rebuild/upgrade turbos etc

spoken well by someone who has never owned a GTR

Had to make a similar decision myself.

I've had a 32 before, so i was tired of the shape and can't afford the fuel bill for a gtr.

But I have driven both the r32 gtr and the r34 gtt. And found in terms of performance, the R32 gtr just blew me away. But seeing as i'm somewhat over that phase i found the R34 far more refined and with just enough poke to keep you interested.

neither have i owned a GTT though so at least i aint biased

dont get me wrong and unscrunch your panties, i love 32R's but logic dictates your gonna have more problems with one due to the age (yes 16 years is old i dont care what you say) and also the more intricate (admittedly far superior 26) than with a 6 or 7y.o mostly stock 34

thankyou

the only thing the age of a car will give you trouble with are consumables, such as clutches and general wear and tear on suspension (bushes, shocks - who cares? you'd probably want to change them anyway, or might find a car with lot of good gear already in it), alternators, starters and power steering pumps and that kind of thing. big deal. major mechanical things are still going to be fine unless the car has been thrashed, and that can happen wether the car is 5yr old or 15.

I've had mine for a year and driven it very hard in alot of events, and the only problems I've had have been TPS and rear cradle bushes. A grand total of $270. OK, that's not counting the rear discs i cracked at the track, which is hardly their fault anyway. yeah, they're troublesome old heaps alright!

I'm sick of hearing everyone (who have never owned one) bagging the R32 GTR for being unreliable. It simply isn't true. Of course there will be the odd lemon out there, but again that happens with every car.

I couldnt agree more. And what compounds this is that, no-one starts topics saying "hey, my gtr is running great" (why would you?), its always "my gtr blew up - help!" because these forums are here to help people with problems.

Take your time searching for the right vehicle and pay a premium for a good quality car and you wont be disappointed.

I was in a similar situation 3 years ago and took the GTR. In my mind it is far more enjoyable than the GTT would ever be (not saying the GTT is a bad car, it just doesnt float my boat) in stock and modified forms.
