HOKAY!!!

from the first post of mine in this thread.. things have progressed but a little. Focal S-series speaker in each door, SPL of 142.2dB, enough to win 2 trophies at the local show. One for best SPL >500RMS, one for best import - for teh second time in a row.

The R34 GTR N1 vents are now in the front bar.

My $10k Loan has been approved by CUA. This will cover paint, airbag susp, wheels, HF Turbo, injectors, Z32 AFM, FMIC from GK Tech, and redone stereo install with custom box. ECU has been added to backburner, see what happens with PFC's.

Centre console to be painted same white pearl as bottom half of car, as are the inserts replacing the cloth in the door trims, and the instrument cluster and fibreglass spkeakerbox and amp mounting panels.

Like it a lot.

definately utilise a safc or some engine semi-management system whilst pondering the full computer option, or probably best bet for you might be to remap the ecu.

with the SAFC and others (profec, etc, im not sure) what controls what? how much of the engine managemnt programming do these computers take over...? ie boost settings, a/f ratios... ignition timing..?

Which option would be best in the long run? im not going to go any further than the mods listed, would i even NEED to go anything more technical than a remapped factory ecu or a profec/safc???

  • 1 month later...

Car goes in to have GKtech FMIC fitted, and the Nismo bodykit painted and fitted on monday, as well as having front bar repainted after having GTR rectangle vents added (and cracks from careless driving repaired). Will be in for a week, apparently the hardest thing will be matching the paint colour. have asked for an extra litre or two to be kept inside, for som interior highlighting, and future touch ups if needed. Will post pics when its done!

Also waiting on suspension from SK to arrive, cant wait.

mmm thaught u had a gazillion dollars in fines to pay

Well i had 9k sitting aside, which was to pay for jays car. which easily covered it with some left over. was a matter of a) buy jays car, and go to jail for not paying fines or b) pay my fines and clear my credit cards, then spend the remainder finishing my half-done bodykit.

I dont even think its possible to rack up $9k in fines...

ahh well good luck with it

Well guess now i have my car i should start a list of the things i have done so far.

Car is 1997 Stagea RS Four V Auto $14500 landed and registered

Zenetti Kaotic Shadow Chrome 18x8.5 Wheels $1600

Nismo Clear Side Indicators and Clear Front Indicators $150

GB Floor Mats with Stagea Logo's $140

Cyber Stork Replacement Gauges and Stainless instrument Surrounds $150

Dolphin Replica Bodykit $1600 (Not Yet Painted)

sad thing is I have only had the car registered only 3 days now

hahaha well finally tomorrow is the big day, going to drive 5mins down the road to a top blokes place, and fit:

Slide 250rwkw @ 1bar highflow turbo

Penrite 5mm unrestricted oil feed line

Davies Craig automatic transmission oil cooler upgrade kit

Maltech front and rear braided brake lines

DBA slotted front brake rotors

Bendix front and rear heavy duty and advanced brake pads

Castrol brake fluid

Penrite 10w50 fpr10 oil

Ryco Z145A oil filter and Z200 fuel filter

GB oil sump plug valve drain

Aerospeed adjustable exhaust cam gear wheel - perhaps....... dependant upon time, Im not that fussd about it. Could get it fitted on the day of the dynotune. Will alos get the Whiteline front castor kit fitted when I grab a 4wheel alignment. Hope to get these jobs done around New Years.

So will keep it to around 10psi (will try 12, lol, and see where R&R hits) until the retune of the safc/sitc hopefully over new years.

Monday job - $400 incl oil line, I supplied all parts. Cant wait. :)

Suspn job - $250?

Retune - $450?

So yeah a 29grand car, totally sorted. Maybe 18's one day (sell 17s) and outside detail etc to tidy her right up, and that'd to take it to 30k. Im happy. :) But that'd be it. :)

    • Yep that makes sense, thanks! I guess flogging these turbos in winter is more preferrable lol.
    • Bahahaha, bloody hell Greg. You've got bent and broken things, but instead, you're replacing perfectly good items. This story keeps getting more gregged!   Also, I'd 100% replace that reo if I were in your shoes, unless you panel beater is REALLY good. Even if you put another GTT one on there. Just because you've done so much nice body work lately, I'd say repair the body work fully  If it were more drift car spec, I'd be all "Hit it with a hammer and send it!"
    • There's a fair chance that my bushes are Nismo, because I'm reasonably sure that when asked the question (when putting the subframe into the car in ~2012) "What bushes do you want to run?", I'm pretty sure I would have answered "The stiff ones!". I had to put some silicone grease onto the GKTech inserts I jammed into them last week, because the bushes were quite resistant to having something jammed up their jacksies. So, I reckon you'll be best off doing Nismo + inserts. And, if I'd known you had PU bushes in the subframe AND PU pineapples, I perhaps would have said earlier that that's probably not a good idea. The pineapples are only intended to work with the stock type bushes, because those have a crush tube (which is what makes it end up looking like there is sloppy space in there - but doesn't, because the crush tube does make contact steel to steel) and the pineapples live in the space between the subframe's outer tube and the lower washer/bracket. But the PU bushes don't leave the space in the same way that the stock format ones do, and they do end up fighting for space. Order some bushes and collars and get to it.
    • Thats the current state of the reo. Bit ew, but GTR Reo and supporting bars are $2000, and 2nd hand GTT ones are $1000... More engine disassembly. The good news is   Various LS weird sounds are apparently normal Everything coming out is in perfect condition The bad news is: Everything coming out is in perfect condition It looks like whoever assembled this engine ~25,000km ago was telling the truth with what's in it and how they did it. Even things I was unsure of like the timing chain - But it's a brand new double row timing chain, spaced perfectly. They even cut up the stock windage tray to keep it instead of being lazy and to work with the baffle. Cam, Heads, springs, LS7 lifters, Pushrods - All look new and have obviously been working perfectly. In other news, we removed the pineapples that were loaded below the superpro subframe bushes. They look a fair bit munted and have deformed the poly bushes that are 'above' them. I'm telling myself that now that there's space 'under' the bush between the little cup that bolts in... that having a pineapple wedged there was bad and basically made the rear end solid. The pineapple and the superpro bush are ... equally deformed (i.e they have deformed one another from being smashed together). We'll see how it goes with bushes only. I am sure this cope will fail and the answer will be to drop the subframe and put nismo rubber bushes in there instead. $400 worth of gaskets and ARP head bolts to replace perfectly new looking gaskets that absolutely weren't leaking  and were installed perfectly with great care - because god damnit.
    • Why bother? Keep them under 1bar and be happy, I had it for 10 years and never had an issue. once you go beyond that the budget blows out fast and then keeps on blowing out
