hey,

ive done a search but couldnt find exactly what i was after.

yesterday i installed a new cat and catback exhaust. after it was all done i started it up and took it for a 20 min drive to my parents, when i pulled off the M5 and stopped at the lights i could smell something similar to burning oil. i drove back home and i could still smell it. it smelt as though it was coming from the drivers side in the engine bay, but not so much from the passenger side. i dont know what the problem is, if any one could give me any ideas it would be great?

it also seemed to be boosting fine, hitting about 12psi, 2 psi more than stock.

Thanks

Stephen

not really sure how to explain in great detail, but it does sorta smell for a couple of days after you get a new exhaust put in. I had similar issue but my mechanic warned me about. I dont think it is anything serious other than the exhaust..

cheers

whew,

thanks for that.... thought there was something wrong and that id have to fork out some more cash to get fixed. its a relief.

Yeah the first time it happened to me it freaked me out as well (mind you that was on a corolla about 14 yrs ago lol  )

The smell is dont quote me is the small film of oil in which is located inside the pipe aswell to stop it from air rusting plus as noted new exhaust smell and it will go away
