Dodgey Indicators

Heya All,

I'm having some problems with the indicators on my 2000 rs4.. whats the problem i hear you ask... well I have no idea, hopefully someone out there has . Any way what is happening is that the indicators will work sometimes..sometimes not... i've checked the fuse and that looks to be ok.

I can turn the indicator on and it wont work then leave it on and it will all of a sudden come on.. The hazard light switch does the same thing. sometime it will work ok for a few operations then it stops, then it may return to working..all very frustrating and probably not the safest way to be driving a car.

Guys that have service my car reckon that it may be the stem that need replacing ? maybe but doesn't seem to tie in with the same fault happening with the hazard light switch as well.

I think I've checked the right fuse in looking at the translation that is posted for the coin tray fuse diagram. Mine looks different but I found the same Jap characters that were translated to "inidcators" on the coin tray so I assume that it was the correct on I was looking at.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it might be earthing out. Check your wiring behind the indicators.

This problem happened to me when I had a falcoon ute... Exactly what PW suggested was the problem.
