Visitors, Where To Go? Parts/shows/shops?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be in Brisbane end of october through early/mid november... I'm from the U.S. so looking forward to seeing the used parts market and any shops or places that have RB26, RB25, or Subaru parts!

Are there any types of places that carry used parts like Autobacs/Upgarage in Brisbane?

Thanks guys, me and some friends in the states have RB powered S chassis cars...

There are many performance shops in Brisbane, but many dont carry stock. They order everything from suppliers. As for shops i guess it all depends on what your shopping for???

There are plenty of huge shopping centres round Brisbane and the Gold coast but im sure their the same as the US.

The biggest event at the end of October is INDY...

Indy on the gold coast is awsome. Its a street circuit through the sky scrapers and the atmosphere is PARTY for 4 days straight. Indy in Australia for some reason makes women take their shirts off and dance around drunken. I have no idea why but its tridition these days to see many topless people.

Other than that, your a bit late for Bathurst which is Australia's premium motor race of V8 Supercars. If you are after some fun, Dreamworld, Seaworld and Movie world are good fun and Wet and wild if its a bit hot...

Other than that, im sure SAU Qld can put on a bit of a chin dig for our fellow RB friends in the states. Let us know what dates your here and a mobile number maby and you will be more than welcome to a BBQ or a cruise or something.

This way you can check out some skylines at the same time.

Its sad, but autobarn would probably be the closest to ur autobacs...there are a few smaller shops here and there but if you've been to autobacs then u'd be pretty disappointed with retail parts shops over here.

thanks for the replies guys... been away from the forum a bit b/c i recently spun a bearing (or so i think) in my 26. For some info, read up here: http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=156818

That being said, depending on what is dead, I may be looking for parts. I can pretty much get bearings/head/pistons replacements in the states, but coming across a decent manifold may be difficult.

I also have to keep in mind that a GTR manifold may not fit into my chassis, since we have left hand drive. also the bay of the S chassis is a bit tighter than skylines.

I'll post up when the time comes for a visit to see if i can contact some members. I'll have email access while there, but probably not much voice/phone access..

ummm.....each tuesday we have a dinner at various restraunts around brisbane they are a good time to meet the crew also sundays at the "spit" down at the gold coast are a good place to see whats on brisbane streets

Dinner on Tuesday sounds like a definite possibility, depending on when I finish up with work. I'll be online hopefulyl Sunday/Monday to check on updates.

I'm arriving early Sunday morning, but most likely won't be able to show for the auto salon due to jet lag

Awsome... Check out tuesday night dinner thread...

Check out your work commitments and post up if ya want to go. Im sure one of our wonderful members will pick you up. I would but my car is currentlly in pieces and im driving skylines worst enemy atm (called a commodore). So i wont pick you up in that, cause that would suck for you.

EDIT: Worst comes to worst ill get ya in the S15 Spec S GT...

    • Thanks for the info. The only "Issue" I've had with the shifter is I always found the throw between 4th and 6th gear too close. I'm always worried to shift into 4th accidently and sending my motor to the moon. Adam LZ recently came out with a video and stated Serialnine revised their shifters to correct this and will change all the revised parts for 150$. Strangely enough, I contacted Serialnine right after and they denied it and said it's bullshit. I found that strange as he's a distributer. I'll keep this forum post updated on that saga.
    • Yep that is correct. It allows you to adjust the short throw range from what I can tell
    • Car has been running great, I've put about 300km's of break in time on it. First thing that stands out with properly sealing rings is no more noticeable crankcase smell coming out of my catch can. This may seem insignificant, but the constant smell while driving around was infuriating. It's also nice to see my oil level remain stable. Two new issues have developed that I only noticed this weekend though. There's a very noticeable driveline vibration past 100kmh. I only noticed it now as I've been babying it under 100kmh in the backroads. This comes as no surprise as I'm running a one-piece shaft, and I paid zero attention to my driveshaft angle when I put everything back in. I also have a fair bit of voltage drop on hot starts. The starter audibly is forcing. No issues on cold start though. I must not have removed all the paint under my main block ground during assembly. I'll try and take care of both those issues this week once the kids are asleep.  I also received all the parts I was missing for my direct port setup. I will hopefully have pictures of that up soon. I'm hoping to get back on the dyno the week of June 30th as I'll be on vacation. I'm confident I should be able to make north of 500rwkw on pump gas and WMI. I'll go back again later this summer with E98, but I want to confirm my ethanol content sensor is working properly first. I've never seen it read anything but 11%. This makes sense for our 10% ethanol content pump gas here, but I would expect the occasional movement between fill ups.
    • 75% complete. Will now need to get a new axle with 5x114.3 hubs and then figure out how to customize some mudguards for it once the wheels are on.
    • Trailer prep is underway... Lined up the wheel to get a rough indication of how it would sit Then removed all the bits (as far as possible) and gave the frame a light sand and quick lick of paint   Then added some carpet
