CEF11E
Hi All I have just had a mongoose M80 installed in my car. I got it installed with dual stage shock sensor and a glass breakage sensor. I am not really hoppy with the place that installed it and do not have complete confidence in them. The alarm goes off for no reason (while in my locked garage) I took it back and they adjusted the sensors and it is still going off all the time. Also they wanted a rediculous ammount of money to put an actuator in the drivers door so I decided I will do that bit myself. they did not even plug in the harness for central locking so I have 2 questions. 1. do I need a master or slave actuator? the alarm has central locking relays already... what are the wires I need to run to the door from the C/L loom and where can i buy an actuator? 2. how can I diagnose why the alarm is goin off all the time. Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/134532-mongoose-m80-alarm/ Share on other sites

Chris Rogers
master actuator. you will need to tie it to the lock switch in that door. ( the OEM one that drives teh other doors of the drivers door is usually stuffed!) as for diagnosis : if yo uhave the book -read it. about 3/4 back there will be a few pageds on error chirps and led codes. that will tell you what is up. from there its up to you to adjust it. fire me a PM with the alarm location (I'll help you hide it,) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/134532-mongoose-m80-alarm/#findComment-2501381 Share on other sites

wessa02
when u disarm the alarm after its gone off the led should flash a combo which you can refer back to the manual to see which sensor is setting it off and thus make you adjustments. My bet is that your interior motion sensor is set with to bigger radius, if the interior sensor is tripped the alarm will go off without warning. try moving the motion sensor unit to very centre of the car to get best operation out of it, I have mine mounted in behind the handbreak but under the plastic so it cant be seen, however try to keep away from metals as much as possible as it effects the sensor. A warning to you if you mess with major functions of alarm you will void your warranty. Talk to baysidebluer34 from this forum he installs them and knows all there is to know bout them Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/134532-mongoose-m80-alarm/#findComment-2518652 Share on other sites

He doesn't have the microwave sensor, only the impact sensor which should only go off if something bumps into the car and the vibration sets off the alarm. I have this alarm and have had no troubles with it going off unwarranted, it's set on medium sensitivity for the Impact sensor...I'd be making sure yours is too. frx026
One other thing to consider is the type of sensor you are dealing with. Is it a microwave or ultrasonic sender? Is it a pressure or vibration sensor? etc... Basically microwave sensors emit a signal that can travel through glass, park the car in a tin shed and the signal travels out the glass hits the relective surface of the tin, is dispersed and may error the alarm. Microwave sensors are generally un relialbe as they can also be tempreture dependant. Ultrasonics emit a sound wave within the vehcile, the use a sender and a receiver and operate when the wave being sent is interupted. These are a lot more reliable, are not tempreture sensitive or prone to errors. The other thing to consider is that if you are not happy with the way the system has been installed in the vehicle then take it somewhere else, tell them you bought the car with the alarm in it and then ask them for an opinion. You may be surprised at how crap the first companies instal was.
