Hey guys, currently running a HKS Fcon Pro-V in my baby, and its nearing time for a tune once I get the new intake setup fitted.

Does anyone know of a tuner in QLD who can do a good job with these babies, ive got a full techtom digital display unit that works in conjunction with it, and a dual stage shift light and a heap of other stuff thats reliant on the ecu that I really dont wanna lose if I can avoid it.

In saying that to my knowledge the only guys I can find to tune it are BD4's in sydney... and im not keen on sending my car interstate just for a tune everytime I need work done.

If there is noone in QLD, what are your opinions on a replacement computer, keeping in mind the car is 500... hopefully 600hp with the new mods at the treads (RB25DET Series 1). Or should I just quit my bitching and send it down...

My main concern is I know the Fcon is an awesome computer... if you can get someone to tune it, I dont want to take a step backwards into a power fc or something with limited functions etc just to save a few bob on tuning etc.

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers - James.

the fcon is great, but with no local tuners you may as well have a stock ecu.

i would recommend a locally supported ecu instead, what good is the worlds best ecu if no one can tune it? i know bd4s in sydney can tune hks fcon and maybe CRD can as well. i dont think there are any other hks dealers, as they need the pro writer software, which is locked to hks dealers only (anyone care to confirm/correct?).

sell it and buy something that a local tuner can work on

Thats pretty much what I was getting at... question still looms what ECU to go to that will enable me to retain most of the features that I currently have/use.

The techtom is the main thing ill be pissed about losing, it shows intake temp, digital revs, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, speed, boost... a whole crapload of handy stuff I can cycle through at the touch of a button. Im pretty sure I can retain the shift lights and adapt them to another ECU as they are Tomei items.

I mean if it has to happen ill bite the bullet but I have heard rumours that there is "somewhere" in QLD which tunes the fcon... now if i only knew where!!!

and if you do happen to find one tuner in your area for the fcon they can charge you as much as they like, as you can't go anywhere else

and if they are busy youll have to wait, and you are locked into them every time. its like the mines remaps, and so on, locked to a specific place/workshop. its much better using a widely supported ecu so numerous tuners can fiddle/adjust

Hmmm point taken, never thought of it like that

The Question Remains, what to swap to, is there anythign I can swap to with the same funcionality, features etc

Because I can pretty much get anything tuned by local shops BAR the fcon :(

Microtech, Haltech, Power FC, Autronic, Motec... yay for opening up a whole new can of worms ahahha

Basically the tuner I'll be looking at using locally, would prefer power fc or microtech... those are the two he is really good with, along with a multitude of other workshops.

Ive recently heard some good things about the new Wolf 3D V4 I think it is which has some pretty badass deatures such as rotational idle, anti lag, great mapping points etc

I basically wont something that has great tuneability in terms of boost and rpm mapping points, along with safety features like a knock sensor etc.

I dunno I just dont want my car to turn into a pig because of some sub standard ECU.

What is a TechTom? I've got the Navigator Pro which does what your TechTom does - is it the same?

I'd send the car down to Sydney :D Power FC compared to the F-CON will be like taking a step back into the stone age (prepares for WW3 from this comment) :D

Also; if you want to stay in the same playing field then Wolf; Haltech; Autronic or Motec should be your options :(
