External Wastegate With Factory Turbo And Manifold

Hi all

I am looking at getting a Greddy external wastegate what i want to know is are they worth wile with the factory turbo and is it safe to get one welded to the factory manifold.

Im not wanting the wastegate for the noise or as a rice mod.

Im wanting it as an upgrade as my factory wastegate actuator is having a bit of trouble keeping up with the boost etc.

Any suggestions or comments would be great

Waste of time upgrading gate with standard turbo, probably find that it is you turbo falling over. buy a highflow turbo and it will come with new actuator, and wastegates dont make noise unless your screamer pipe runs to atmosphere.

Your current probably doesnt sound actuator related, more to the point of the factory turbo.

have seen gates welded to manifolds and then crack soon after.

not worth the hassle, get a new hiflow with new actuator or a larger turbo kit to suit an external gate if thats what you want.

as everyone above hav been saying - dont bother
