Ignition amplifier module?

There's a squarish box at the back of the motor ontop of the cam covers.

Behind the plenum return pipe.

Mine is gone, I've been told some 33's do not have them.

Do I need one? The car runs fine otherwise.

Don't worry, mine hasn't got one either.

From what I've seen, it looks like there was (sort of) two types of motors in the Series 1 range and this is one (maybe the only) of the small differences.

Yours is a 1995 or later model right???

?? I thought it was mandatory, as it controlled the sparking for the coils?? must be wrong. Mine definitely has it.

sure it just isn't relocated in the engine elsewhere? could be have been done on later models for heat reasons.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's just relocated cause I'm currently using a 1993 ECU in my 1995 car and it works fine (other than the damn flat spots being more noticable )

So I'd say the module is somewhere else. :uh-huh:

On late RB25 motors, Nissan did away with the trans pack on the back of the head, but instead incorporated the transistors into the coil packs (ie one trans per coil pack). I don't know what the changeover date is tho....

you can check splitfires.. there are two different partnumbers - one for the early R33 with a seperate Ignitor, another for late model R33's with the ignitor built into the Coilpack.
