Hey guys, just a quick question.... my dad's ceffy has started acting really spongy, which is becoming quite dangerous at highway speeds, as a series of bumps seems to unsettle the back.

They're either Koni or KYB (can't remember atm) 4 way dampening adjustables. The rigidity was acceptable about a year and a half ago when it was imported, but since then has jus deteriorated.

here's a pic of the the rear ones:

Anyways, my question is, can this be fixed simply? Is it just a matter of reconditioning the shocks? Or would it be cheaper and easier to get a replacement set? My dad dosen't need to have the car lowered, or have coilover suspension or anything special like that... but the dampening adjustment was a nice feature.

Also can anyone recommend any shops in sydney that I can take it to, to have the shocks looked at, reconditioned or to get replacements from?

If they're adjustable but wearing out, have you considered delaying the inevitable rebuild / recondition and just tightening them? Or are they as tight as they'll go?

It'll give you more time to save up for that purchase.

they're on their toightest setting, and still spongy. so its time for a reco/turf'n'buy.

Just trying to weigh up the options. Whiteline seems to sell the rears for $160 a pair (or is it each). They're the same as a silvia, so shouldn't be a hassle to find.

The fronts are a lot more expensive from the looks of it... I've noticed its mostly spongy at the back (weight of the engine might be affecting the front from being spongy) so could I get away with changing just the back ones?
