go check at a tyre shop, I'm pretty sure 225s are the max u can run on a 7" wide rim. 7.5" wide and u can run 235s legally. I had this problem when i bought some 2nd hand 235s for my 17x7 and tyre shop said max I could go was 225.

It would be great if someone with the knowledge could post max recomended widths for each rim size. Im not talking about the max that will fit im talking in regard to the widest you can go before handling is hampered.

I dont have any idea what the actual widths should be but something like this

7 = 225?

7.5 = 235?

8 = 245?

8.5 = 255?

9 = 265?

9.5 = 275?

10 = 285?

10.5 = 295?

cheers

i know you can go 245's on a 8" rim. i have 225's on my stock r33 rims and the sidewalls are on a bit of an angle. i think 235's would be pushing it.

what are the rims off? 18x7 sounds like the size of a wrx wheel. in which case they have a different stud pattern to skylines. they are only 5x100, not 5x114.

What stud pattern doesn't have any relevance to what tyre u can run on a wheel.

Use this calculator. It will tell you the range of widths a particular profile tyre can go on.

thanks guys just picked up the rims they were brand new speed lite rally something or other with the correct stud pattern, and yes 18*7, called the tyre shop today also and they said 225's are ideal and 235 will fit with a slight bluge of the tyre so i'm goin 225 on the front and 235's rear

no more replys needed, thanks 4 the help!

i know pattern doesn't have relevence to what tyres you can run, but it does have relevence to whether the rim fits on the car. was just making sure that he wasn't buying rims that wouldn't fit.
