Great day again Paul. I'm stuffed. But the car survived, despite the attempts of my crappy factory intercooler AND radiator hoses.

SIDE POINT: if anyone has photos of my car shooting flames (those in the morning session will know what I mean) then please PM them or point me to where I can get 'em. :)

That's number 13 for ya.... :)

edit: Willo that sucks man. I'd be happy to chip in for the hitman if you find the dudes that did it, scum like that need their hands chopped off or something. >

Great Day, I have posted my opinion on the EVO forum mainly as I pit for EVO Cam (ex GTRCAM).

I have to say great to meet you JMac, hope the car holds up after the water incident. Remember to put some coolant in there!!!

And yes the day was tooo hot, plus our car was outperforming the brakes as we have recently had turbo upgrades care of APC. We were hoping for a 56 for the clubman but the timing gear was down the first run (though the brake pedal went to the floor...) and best of the day was 57.3 with the tyres being to high in pressure due to the heat.

On a side note, I think the time attack should be limited to 2 cars and those cars be SIMILAR in lap times and not dordle on the warm up lap...

Other than that an excellent day and would have to say that I was stuffed last night and could only handle a few Corona's before calling it a day.

Also was good to see some nice machines out (yes I do own a skyline still...), and disspointing that some cars had to retire/were retired due to the heat. At track temps around 49C and air at 39C it really was a car killer even with large capacity radiators and oil coolers!!

Cheers

Well atleast you left your wing on!!

The movement of those cars with no wing is huge. The EVO's also have issues when people remove the wing. I noticed your tyres in one of my pit walks...

You were also not runig enough neg camber resulting in the outer edge fubar that you have!!

Cheers

No chance of removing the wing! Looks much better on IMO

My poor tyres are still having nightmares, but the rubber was free so no great loss (18" rubber ain't cheap tho)

Guess I'll be keeping an eye out for advice on decent 17" slicks to run next time

Pulled apart the front of the engine this arvo after work and found the idler bearing to be average but servicable...

Ill replace it and see if that solves the problem...

I also picked up a new rattle in the rear right... Damn squeeks and rattles bug me to death...

Arhhh well come Feb 2 ill have 320-330rwkw and Ill find another 30 problems to fix... BRING IT ON...

ok, pics... WITH CAPTIONS!!!!!111one

Mmmmm, Twin Turbo 1UZFE Goodness!

Top effort with the pics!!

There is no doubting the speed of those Evos, and Subarus for that matter. Any links to the timing outputs for the day?

With the temps experienced this week, I'm almost glad I had a gearbox build to do for our motorkhana car on the day. Cooking in the Ipswich/Willowbank heat is not enjoyable - as per comments about cars getting hot.

Any major problems for your 34, jmac?

Unfortunately, Cam did his best lap time in the first session where the timing went down, from there the brakes could not keep up, and thus had to resort to tyre pressure and intake testing.

Was an awesome day other than the heat, and Col I looked around for you but must have missed you. Your were parked nearby but must have been off yonda doing stuff, besides, most of the time I was changing EVO spark plugs cause people were destroying them with too much octane boost...

The 34 seems to have survived, bless its little black butt. Tough motors those RBs... Got the dodgy bore water flushed out of there today. No obvious damage done except for stinky burnt coolant smell everywhere still.

A little disappointed with my lap times but given the temp I guess I'm pretty happy - nearly beat my PB on the Sprint track which I was happy with. And winning the Time Attack was a bonus lol....

Car seemed to be about 5 km/h down on top speed compared to the cooler weather, plus my tyres are ROOTED.

The brakes held up well which I'm very happy about - doing the slotted rotors/braided lines upgrade is a worthwhile exercise, people.

Thanks to AzzurrA and Col for the pics so far too. :glare:

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
