Mystery Turbo

Hey guys

just found out my car (R34 GT-T) has an HKS turbo of some kind in it... can anyone shed some light on what it possibly might be... its sitting in the stock location with the heat shield still over the top of it and has the numbers 064 on the exhast side... i no shit all about turbo's so i am just curious as to what type of turbo i could have?

no sorry, i do actually have a couple pics but u cant see anything... all u can see on the turbo is HKS and 064.

any clues?

take the heat shield off, and try to get the numbers from the plate thats on the bearing catridge (between the housings)

ok looks like A7R-50??

or maybe A7R-60..

That'd be A/R .60, the size of the compressor housing.

If its anything serious, there will be a small plate rivited to the core of the turbo somewhere, indicating a model/serial number.

could be any number of turbos mate

you need to take the heat shield off.

get the ID tag off the cartridge

Other than that, no-one can really help as the numbers will tell the story.

If you cant do it, take it to a workshop if you need to know

tried taking the heatshield off.. but with my crappy tools it was gonna take hours... i will probably give it a go on the week end but run out of light to fast of an afternoon.

ok so pulled the heatshield off and found out my turbo is a GT2840. Can anyone gimme info about this turbo? what power its good for? etc?

any got any info at all? im having alot of trouble finding what this turbo is good for... seems pretty responsive from driving the car, but would really like to know how much boost i can put through it.
