Hello all...

After doing heaps of research on clutchs for R33's as im formally an R31/32 man myself (owned 5 lines now). I have found different information.

What i am asking is simple. I only want reply's from those with either a series 1 or series 2 skyline who have replaced their clutchs (or a mechanic who does them all the time) and what clutch you put in (push or pull).

I even contacted Nissan at Windsor who said all Series 2 GTS-t's are pull type same as the GTR's.

Then i call Nissan at Strathpine and they say only the GTR's are pull, all other skylines are push.

Can everyone confirm the exact truth???

Please state if your a R33 S1 or S2

and

Pull or Push...

Cheers Col

i have a 95 r33 gts-t. its a mix of both series 1 and 2. i don't really know the difference between push and pull, but i know how my clutch works as i've had the box out. when you push the clutch in it pushed the clutch fork, with pushes the throwout bearing towards the front of the car (and against the pressure plate), dissengaging the clutch. i asume that is a push type. i'm pretty sure my mates 97 gts-t is the same.

Hi Col,

I would love to be able to confirm one way or the other as I also have been told numerous contradicting stories but alas I cant.

The latest statement I heard from someone "in the know" was that they had never seen an R33 gearbox that was pull, hence they are all push.

As I am doing the 33 box conversion I have spoken to a few people who have done it before me to get info and every single person who purchased a 33 box managed to get a push type.

I recently purchased a 33 box for my GTSR and it was a push type. The car it was pulled from was a 95 model which the owner described as a series 1.5.

This is such a simple question and yet 2 different answers...

I think that big sully has a point. Both the slave cylinders on the s1 and s2 are the same so therefore they must bith be push type....

But i still want confirmation without pullin the box out...

I find it weird that people were telling you otherwise cos it's pretty well known that:

R32 GTST = push

R32 GTR = push (except some very late models)

R33 GTST = push

R33 GTR = pull

R34 GTT = pull

R34 GTR = pull

As you can see the pull type clutch is a more modern device. It requires less effort to disengage than a push type thus powerful cars with light clutches.

This is not just the case with Skylines.
