There hasn't been that much coverage of it here (London). Steve Irwin had more coverage. Nizmo is right, he is the type to laugh it off. He is still critical but now stable. No information about injuries sustained have been released.

Hey Guys,

Another update for you all...just heard on the news that he is now listed as stable, and not critical.

They are investigating the BBC about it now...here is an extract from an article:

"The police and the Health and Safety Executive will now try to establish whether Mr Hammond should have been allowed to take charge of the dragster in which he was trying to break the British land-speed record.

The BBC could face criminal charges and fines if they are found to have failed in their duty of care to Mr Hammond. "

were they taping at the time? it would make some good tv

Yeah they were filming at the time. It wasn't an official British land speed record attempt. I watched some footage of the result of the crash. You can see the marks on the runway veer off and then the ruts and roll points in the grass. Will have to find it again and link it up.

Its crazy..

You cant blame the BBC, its the hosts of the show that take these risks to get a bigger audience, I understand what your saying however.

Big fan of Top Gear.

Hope he gets better.

I agree with you totally Alpha...I dont see how BBC could get charged over this. What would they say if it had of been a professional driver doing the driving on the show and the same thing happened? If it was a blowout like they have hinted at, it would have happened no matter who was driving.

It is a great show, and I hope that because of this they dont tame it down...that will destroy the show.

He has now got out of bed and walked around and spoken
