255's On A 7.5 Inch Rim

hi,

i'm about to purchase a set of 18" rims for my R33 GTST and when asking about tyre sizes available, the guy on the phone told me that i could fit anything from 225's to 255 tyres for it.. the width of the rim is only 7.5 inches, so i'm wondering if 255's would be too big for the rim ?

do u guys think he's right ?

he is right in saying that it is possible to fit it, but i personally wouldn't run 255s ona 7,5".

Generally, 205s fit well on 6.5-7.5"

225 are good for 8" - they have a straight side wall. they would be ok on a 7.5" too.

I run 255 on my 9" wheels - sidewall is striaght once again.

wider is not better.

255 on a 7.5" would just be stupid. the sidewalls woul dbe so floppy. They would look like a balloon.

yep, but depends on tyre (brand/model)

i had some 265s that were slightly stretched on my 9s
