Mate, i feel for you,

I am sorry for your lose. When a skyline falls we all feel it.

BUT...

Mate, respect for these cars and their capability has to be earnt.

Preferably not the hard way like you just did.

These are high performance cars, turbo or not.

If your wifes a jube then it was not her responsibility.

It was yours.

Next time you buy/build a skyline, start the mods from the ground up not the engine back.

The truely sad bit is that all everyone saw that night, was another skyline being smash by young drivers.

Everyone that passed you that night said in there own mind was "typical, probably speeding"

Coppers, ambo's, probably even family and friends.

Because of accidents (and it sounds like yours was) like yours we all get tarred with the same brush.

the reason TMU is all over us.

Think about it, learn from it.

I am sorry mate, like i said, i really am.

I am glad your alright and your Gf is unharmed, i guess when it comes down to it thats the most important thing.

:)

really? I've only ever driven one na Skyline, I thought it was quite boring and sedate.

Yeah it was a horror in the wet, dodgy 205's were too skinny for it. The GT-t seems to behave much better, the extra power straightens the rear out more, makes it a pleasure to drive when breaking traction :)

Any accident you walk away from is a good one.

That said, it's a shame that you're financially shafted. Some lessons do get learnt the hard way - skylines are performance cars (even NA ones scrape in if you're a P plater) and they will bite if you don't know how to deal with them. You really gotta be careful with sports cars in the wet, especially if you still have the compliance tyres on them!

oh well, f**k it whats done is done.

my gf is used to driving a 94 commo, rear wheel driver and alot of power. i got no idea what went wrong maybe she just reved it too hard

she has spoken to her parents and they have agreed to lend her $10,000 once she has a job later this year/early next.

i got to make some f**ked up chioces but one thing i know is i will keep the car and sell parts off bit by bit.

here is a start: 96 R33 series 2 non turbo

dash

console

seats

motor and other little stuff

interior door skin/electric window regulator thing

2 skyline floor mats

rear boot and spoiler

interior of boot (plastic crap)

that electronic thing next to the battery?

crappy standard front and rear sanyo speakers

air bags didnt go off/airbag steering wheel

a few 4 stud wheels/space saver in boot

front lights/fog lights/idicators

rear lights and indicators

i dont know how much these parts are worth so just send me a message of what you want and il ask people in here how much the part is worth?

thanks for all your help guys.

I she must have really booted it, very unlucky mate coz that car is a royal mess...

On a brighter note if you wanna sell your car off for parts let me know those headlights are worth bit and i'd be willing to take your frontbar...

most commodes don't have an LSD. I was getting new tyres fitted to my R31 and a guy in an SS ute was trying to pull into the driveway, lifting his inside rear wheel and spinning hopelessly - rolling backwards despite having his foot on the loud pedal. Since my R31 had a minispool I was finding his attempts quite amusing, he had 3 or 4 goes before realising he needed a decent runup to make it onto the driveway with both rear wheels.

With a single spinner it's harder to make the car step out, and that's what caused your g/f to lose control. I actually think they should restrict cars with LSDs in them as well as those with lots of power, because you don't need much power to swap ends in a RWD car with LSD. An NA MR2 with an LSD will swap ends quicker than you can shit your pants and they don't have much power at all.

At least you can predict what it's going to do. Nothing like expecting a single spinner to do just that and have it kick out a mile.

Bad luck mate, your bank account will heal eventually - as bad as it seems now. Just glad you are OK. Sucks you were trying to do the right thing with insurance and this happens - except Just Car's excess would have been just as horrendous as the premium I would think.

Good luck mate.

I can relate to that.. I was driving my mates manual VS Commonwhore in the wet around a roundabout with a full carload of people.. The car had $400 tyres on each corner.. I was doing about 30km/h, gave the accelerator the gentlest nudge as I was leaving the turn, and suddenly I'm at a 45 degree angle heading straight for a right angled curb!! I backed off and after fishtailing a bit I reeled it back in.. But it scared the absolute shit out of me!! No warning whatsoever!!

Compare that to another mates VT, when he plants it around a corner the inside wheel lights up and the rear end of the car barely moves at all!

Really sorry to hear about your car man, but at the end of the day you should both be thankful that you werent hurt!! You can wreck the car, regain some cash and your girlfriend seems to be willing to help you out. You'd be surprised how quickly you can accomplish things when you set your mind to it so don't be too down hearted!!

Exactly SoFresh - unpredictable. Which in the long run is worse IMO...

When inexperienced (or flat out not so good) it is best to understand and reliably expect it to kick out than to drive silly on a single spinner for it to usually do nothing lateral... cause when it does... ouch.

shit i have had about 4 messages already asking for parts and im not sure how much they are worth so help meeeeeeEEEe!

"Im chasing the standard gear and handbrake leather boots. Also Ashtray and orginal gear knob if you have it."

"How much for your complete dash setup ? and bits around the steering colum and the shroud inside the cluster...."

how much are these parts worth and also the front lights?

sorry to hear about the crash - cars come andgo but life is most important.

Hope somehow everything works out.

now - on another note - guys - seriously there is no point saying im paying this for that etc etc with insurance - there are so many different factors that make the premium what it is.to be honestits like comparing apples with mango's.

Chris.

Ask them how much they are willing to pay for it, and think about how much you're willing to part with it. You'll work on a compromise inbetween. (hopefully at your end!)

I hope the sales go well and you get back on your feet in no time.

Good luck with it all.

Exactly. When I had my Silvia CA18de with an open diff, I was actually scared to drive in the wet. At the slightest hint of traction loss (which was quite possible with bad tires on), it would snap so hard that you bearly had time to apply opposite lock and straighten out the car before things went very bad.

LSDs should be mandatory IMO.

maybe it comes back to driver ability and experience then?? My S13 when it was on the road was quite controlable (GT25R, rock hard suspension etc) even in the wet and S13s are 100 times more taily than an R33!! I still can't see for the life of me how a NA R33 gets that out of control when simply trying to accelerate.

I can understand. When I had my standard 205's on they would spin in the wet like they were made of vaseline. In the auto, if you floored it and made it kick down in the wet the back end would slew sideways depending on the camber of the road. Very scary even when it was on purpose.

If you floored it round the corner in the wet, you'd be looking forward through the passenger window faster than you could blink!

agree with everyone that at least u and your g/f are ok and parting it out will help with funds in the short term- get you enough to buy a cheap runabout car... nah fark that - keep it, chop the roof, replace/repair the panels and turn it into a convertible :), just a thought lol i reckon a chopped 33 would be awesome.

Hey mate i know exactly how you feel.

Look at what my mum did her to car... It was gonna be mine when i got my licence.. I only got to drive it once ><
