I ran my car at a street meet at Adelaide International Raceway Saturday night (6/4/03), I only did 3 passes launching at 6500rpm each time. The clutch never slipped but driving home it stank to high heaven, and stayed that way until today (Monday). I assume that any clutch will probably give off a bit of a smell if the car is launched hard, doesn't necessarily mean it is screwed.

32godzilla - I ran my car on Friday night at a Melbourne street meet (Calder Park) and my clutch was slipping quite a bit after the third run. Launching it at about 5500 - 6000rpm each time.

Also my clutch still smells today too, funny thing is though it smells a lot once u start the car up even when its stationary, but once you turn it off its ok.

Ethan_R32, I ran a 12.588 at 109MPH. I have a super ARC induction box (which I want to change), and a 3 inch exhaust.

I ran 1.1bar that night but normally putter around on 1bar to try and save the turbos! Have you run any times yet?

hey guys i had the same experience. i have fried 2 clutches and have recently put in a hks twin plate. not good unless it's a track car. there's no play in the clutch. it just bites n launches so u either jump off or ur engine dies.

anyways, 1st time was when i tried to ride the clutch doing a launch and the clutch kept on burning for days until it just gave up.

after that i put in a modified clutch plate which also died when i "fanned" the clutch after a s**t launch, something i used to do in n.a. cars to get it to pick up but not advisable for turbos.

but anyways, what i heard is that if the clutch has been burnt it's not going to work the same anymore. it's just always gonna keep burning till it dies so i'd change that clutch before u get stranded on the highway.

32godzilla, nah havent ran any times as yet. With 240rwkw and a good launch im hoping for low 12's maybe even into the 11's???

rb26dett: well ive dumped it about 3 times at around 6500rpm, and it only smelt once a little bit.

It still feels the same as it did before.

I took it into a tuning place today aswell, and the bloke pressed the clutch in, and reckons its a bit harder that a stock one, so maybe its not stock??? It hasnt slipped at all with the power its got. Who knows.
